Jake's POV:

I had never been so on edge in my life.

How could I not know Lindsey had a brother? He looked like he could crush me in a heartbeat.

"Hello, Aaron. It's nice to meet you." I said extending my hand to shake with his.

"Calm down, kid. You don't have to be all polite to me. I'm just Lindsey's brother." he said back to me.

Instead of shaking hands, we did the 'bro hug'.

"Dinner's ready!" Lindsey's mom called out from the kitchen.

"Coming!" Lindsey shouted back.

"Come on guys, I'm starving." she said to all three of us while making her way to the dining room table.

She's so cute when she's in a rush.

~~~~~
"So Jake, what do you do as a hobby?" Mr. Grey asked me.
"Oh, I play basketball for the school." I responded.
"That's cool. I used to play basketball in high school too." he responded.
Something in common, that's good.
"Lindsey used to play basketball too you know." Aaron added.
I glanced towards Lindsey as she lifted her head from eating.
"I didn't know that. She never told me." I responded.
"I didn't think it was important." she shrugged.
"She played for five years," her dad mentioned.
"Well then, I guess we're gonna have to play one-on-one sometime." I said, giving a little smirk.
She shook her head. "I don't think so."
"Aw come on Linds, just one game with him." her dad said.
"Don't you two go teaming up on me, I said no." she said while furrowing her eyebrows.
I love when she does that.
~~~~~

It was around 8:30, and everyone was in the living room watching Karate Kid.

"Sorry, but I need to get going." I said.

"Aw, can't you stay a little longer?" Linds asked.

"He needs to go sweetie," Lindsey's mom said.

"Okay, then I'll walk you out." Lindsey said.

"Wait a sec. Jake, can I talk to you for a moment?" Mr. Grey asked.

"Sure Mr. Grey, I'm coming right now." I responded.

Lindsey's POV:

I feel like tonight's dinner went really well. Jake and my dad share some of the same interests, and my dad seems to like him. I wonder if the blueberry muffins helped in any way.

"Jake, can I talk to you for a moment?" I heard my dad ask.

"Sure Mr. Grey, I'm coming right now."

Jake walked over to talk to my dad in the dining room.

I wonder what my dad was telling Jake. I really hope it's good news.

After being in the dining room for about five minutes, Jake finally came out.

"Ready to go?" I asked him.
