Lindsey's POV:

"So, when do you want your thank you?" Jake asked from the passengers seat.

"How about when we take you home." I offered.

He shrugged and then took my hand that was resting on my lap into his.

I smiled at the small gesture and continued driving.

"So, I was wondering if you could actually take me to the doctor after we leave here?" Jake asked me.

"Sure, what time is your appointment?" I said.

"It's at 3." he replied.

"Okay, we should be able to get there in time." I responded.

"I'd rather have you there, because my mom would freak if she found out it was anything serious." he added.

"Okay." I said and then let out a chuckle.

We finally arrived and I parked in a stall closer to the front entrance, so Jake didn't have to walk as far.

I went to the passengers side of the truck and opened the door for Jake to get out.

I grabbed his crutches from the bed and handed them to him.

"Thanks." he said as he put both crutches under his arms to walk.

We went up the ramp side and then went through the front gate.

"You can wait outside on the bench, I'll go sign us in on the iPad in the office." I said to Jake.

"Okay." he said sitting down on the bench adjacent to the office.

I walked into the room and signed me in and clicked on the button guest volunteer as well. I also grabbed two aprons we were supposed to wear from the closet and exited the office.

"Here, put this on." I said, handing one of the aprons to Jake.

He unfolded it and then just looked at it.

"Do I have to wear this?" he questioned.

"Stop being such a baby and just put it on." I said, being as I already put mine on and tied it.

"Fine." he huffed and put it around his hips.

I could see him struggling to put it on, and a laugh escaped my lips. I quickly threw my hand over my mouth to make sure he didn't see it.

"Having trouble?" I said to him.

He mumbled something.

"What did you say? I couldn't hear you." I said, joking around.

"Can you help me." he said through gritted teeth.

"I didn't hear a please."

"Lindsey, can you please help me tie this stupid thing." he said.

"Okay," I chuckled, "turn around."

He turned and I wrapped the apron around him.

I gently tied it around him and he turned back around to face me.

"I look ridiculous." he said, looking down at himself.

He was pretty tall, so the apron looked short on him.

"I mean, it's just a little on the short side, but I think it should be fine." I stated.

He let out a grunt.

"Don't be complaining, you offered to come with me." I said.

"Yea yea, let's just go meet your supervisor or whatever." he muttered.
