Lindsey's POV:

"Ugh!" I yelled.

I literally could not do anything with these crutches.

There was a knock on the door.

"Coming!" I yelled from my seat in the living room.

I grabbed both my crutches and hobbled my way over to the front door.

"Hey Jake." I said to him.

He smiled at me. "Are you okay? I heard you yell." he asked.

Dang.

"Yea, these crutches are just driving me insane." I huffed.

"Now you know how I felt a few weeks ago." he said. "Just wait til you get to PT."

"Gee, thanks." I said sarcastically.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel worse." he apologized.

"It's fine. What're you doing here?"

"I wanted to hang out with you." he said.

"Okay, come in." I said, crutching away from the door frame.

"So, what do you wanna do?" I asked, sitting down at the couch and dropping my crutches on the side.

"I don't know, what were you doing before I got here?" he asked.

"I was gonna start playing the piano, but I realized I couldn't use the pedal. So everything would sound choppy."

"I could press it while you play." he offered.

"But you don't even play. You don't know when to push and hold down."

"You can tell me when?" he said, coming out as more of a question than a suggestion.

"Sure, let's try." I said, picking up my crutches and going to the corner of the living room where my piano was.

I sat down at the bench, and Jake sat next to me.

"Okay, so play something and tell me when to press the pedal and lift." he said.

"Okay." I said. "Oh, and one more thing."

"Hm?"

"I sing when I play. Good luck!" I added, then immediately started playing.

The shocked look on his face was priceless when I told him that.

As I started playing and singing, I would frequently say 'push' or 'release' every so often.

When I reached the end, I started to laugh.

"Why are you laughing? It wasn't that bad was it?" Jake questioned.

"No, it was just, a little choppy." I said, bringing my index finger and my thumb close together to leave a gap.

"Your voice was nice, though. I kind of forgot you could sing so well." he said.

"Gee, thanks." I said jokingly.

"No, I'm serious. You have an awesome voice, Linds. You should really consider something in the industry."

"I don't think so. That's risky."

"And I don't like being the center of attention." I added.
