BUZZ BUZZ...BUZZ BUZZ

"Ughhhh, really?" I groggily turned off the school alarm I forgot to disable, as today was a bank holiday. It didn't exactly help that the others and I were still tired as hell from celebrating Frisk's birthday all night; or the fact that we spent all day yesterday planning to surprise her whilst also managing to keep her out of the know.

Yawn

"...(Y/n)? Why are you awake? It's six in the morning."

"Haha. Right. I kinda forgot to turn off my, uh, phone..." I couldn't help but put on a nervous smile as I watched Frisk stretch the sleepiness out of her arms. It looked like she didn't mind, however. She always was an early bird.

We were all staying over in what the monsters and I dubbed unsurprisingly: 'the Monster Mansion', the same house that the government specially built for everyone as a gift when Frisk became the ambassador. At first, people were skeptical. With enough time, however, she helped them all understand that the monsters meant no harm, and it turned out that life is actually better around Ebott Town with them. People even come daily to wish everyone well - dropping off homemade gifts and wishes. I suppose I couldn't help but admire her heavily for that.

I've been friends with Frisk ever since we were young, so it was easy for me to open up to anyone and everyone she brought back with her. In fact, I knew Frisk so well that even though this whole experience has been so blissful for everyone, I couldn't help but feel that every time she wondered into her own thoughts, she was trying to hold back some kind of feeling within her.

BAM

A tall bone-headed skeleton strode in to the room with a smug yet gleeful look on his face.

"NYHEHEHEH, GOOD MORNING HUMANS. I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, AM DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT IN HONOUR OF THE HUMAN'S AFTER PARTY; I HAVE DECIDED TO COOK A SPECIAL FORM OF SPAGHETTI - I CALL IT SPECIAL SPAGHETTI!"

Frisk and I looked at each other with concerned eyes over Papyrus' controversial cooking skills but still smiled in view of his efforts.

"Is it special because it's getting licked by the neighbour's dog?" Sans appeared, laughing at the wide-mouthed Papyrus - who had his bony fingers curled up in a fist.

"What... did you say? HOW DO THESE WRETCHED BEASTS KEEP ESCAPING MY PRISON!?" I let out a loud laugh as Papyrus ran down the hallway into an unsuspecting Undyne, where they fell down the stairs together.

"Oh, by the way, you two, Toriel is making Butterscotch Pie so come down when you're ready, yeah?" Sans waved us off as he too walked down the hallway leaving Frisk and I alone. I watched the short-haired brunette eagerly get up from her bed after hearing that - walking towards the bathroom with a small yet ever-lasting sense of sibylline. Even for someone as monotone as Frisk can be, I always thought, no, always knew that deep down she was keeping some sort of secret: ever since she came back from the underground she's left something behind there - and I need to find out what that is.

7:00am

We all sat down around the dining table which was set elegantly in the middle of the lounge. It was quite loud thanks to Papyrus and Undyne's bickering but I thought I might as well use this to my advantage, Toriel serving us each a slice of Frisk's favourite pie. The ambassador and I sat side-by-side so I decided to start my subtle interrogation.

"We've talked about the Underground for days on end, right?"

Frisk, slightly confused, replied normally. "Right."
