Forbidden

Chapter 16

-NINFA'S P.O.V-

   I don't want Misty to not like Valerie but she does. And I forced Valerie to say what Misty had said. It's terrible.
   To me... It sounds.. weird.. but she's perfect. I don't look at Valerie.. and see just a demon. I don't look at her and see evil.
   My mind only stays fogged until the moment the fight starts. And I kiss her quickly before jumping in the battle. I can tell she doesn't like that but.. I didn't have a choice and I wanted to kiss her... to comfort her more.
   I find how she wields her sword to be magical. She's like a samurai and it's interesting.
"Hey, Joel." She says randomly.
"Sup?"
    In the middle of cutting off a head I see a smile grow. "Play the dubstep station."
    In a second there is a sort of music playing in my ear. And it seems as if she's dancing with her blade, making a kill to each beat. I honestly didn't get to pull out my sword because she had them all gone in less than a minute.
    I feel useless. But.. I'm also enjoying her dancing.
"Ready to go?"
    I laugh at her ridiculous smile. "I didn't get to help."
"Other fights to go to."
    She takes flight and I follow.
"Possible giants den."
"Please not saying breeding?"
"Cheese says it's just a hold out. She doesn't know where the breeding is."
"Where?"
"I need a few minutes. How long will it take you to get across the states?"
"Less than a few minutes. Which way?"
"Towards California."
"Always wanted to go to the beach."
   She takes a sharp turn and I am quick behind her. And she's right, it doesn't take us long to fly there. She's so beautiful.. the eagle. It's quite a strange but interesting choice for flight.
    She can be like me. Wings without animal. But with her... Her wings are black. I don't think she means for them to be, but they're black. And big but nothinglessthan amazing.
    The music cuts out for Joel's voice again. "Should be in an abandoned mill in Ojai."
"No beach then?" Valerie asks with a slight sad tone.
"Not today. Also, what's the loud ass snoring sound in your room?"
"Oh, you know. Ninfa's pet tiger."
    I find it funny how she worded it. I don't see her as a pet, more of a friend.
"Don't tigers hate demons?"
"Aren't you a helpful asshole?"
"You're not here so.." I hear a choking sound. A heavy breathed "Okay!"
    We land at the backside of a mill. You can ..smell.. giants. They smell like large feet. As we land, Valerie grab a her head for a moment.
"Val?"
     She looks at me and after a moment she smiles. "Ready?"
    I make myself hover and lightly kiss her forehead. Sometimes... kissing foreheads for me.. is a way of healing. And if she has a headache.. I can help.
   I do feel a slight drain of my power and I know that I took some kind of pain from her. Her arms wrap around me as I lower myself to face her.
"You didn't have to do that." She smiles to me even though I see.. worry.. in her eyes.
"I'm okay."
    She leans in and claims my lips in a kiss. But pulls back before I can kiss back. And I know she did it on purpose.
"I don't like that."
"Neither did I." Her arms drop from around me.
"I didn't do it on purpose."
"Before you left and went home, you did."
"I only did because I wouldn't have wanted to go home." I feel my face heat.
    There was a loud bang down the mill. She leans in and kisses my cheek.
"Duty calls."
   She takes my hand as I return to ground and we go into the den, invisible.
   At least 30. Minimum. But I'm thinking more.
   The hollowed out underground is huge. Filled will plenty of room for them to roam. And activities.
   And a dinner table. ...which had human parts on. I can't tell how many humans have had to die for there to be the amount on the table but it's a hell of a lot more than one.
"I smell an angel." One speaks loudly and sniffs the air.
    I find myself whispering really quietly. "Do I really smell?"
     Her hand lightly squeezes mine before she takes attack to them. I follow lead and stab the giants hearts. Though I knock down like maybe 1 to every 3 she does... I still help. 
   The last heart beats against my sword and the feel of it beat slower makes me feel powerful to have taken down such a beast. He drops to the ground and she shows herself and I do the same.
"Yes. You do." She kisses my cheek.
"Really? Is it bad?"
    She laughs and shakes her head. "No. Like roses."
     The cries for someones help comes from a few rooms down. The voice and my heart drops. I go running, dodging a giant. Valerie takes his head off in a moments notice.
    My heart aches and I feel like crying. "Where's Danny?"
    The woman looks at me confused.
"Just please say he's safe?"
"You know Danny?"
"Is he okay?"
"Yes, yes. I got him to safety before I got caught by those things."
     We free them and Valerie.. just looks at me. As we get them to safety and have them forget, her hand finds mine. She lights the fire and we get out.
"What was all that?"
"I healed her son."
       Her ruby eyes turn bright and she smiles wide. She's ..beautiful. My heart pounds hard against my chest.
"Ready to go? Think we can go for some shut eye."
    I nod. Her hand drops mine before she turns into a majestic eagle. I follow her flight home... Her home.
   We don't talk to Joel much. Just the check up and giving him his equipment back. Her hand takes mine until we go in her room..
   She puts her weapons down and I put mine with hers. Misty headbutts me and it makes me smile. I don't like how the room is so intensely quiet, though.
   Valerie climbs into bed and I follow her. Misty crawls in the bed and lays, her arm pulls me to her and though I love Misty.. I.. want to be... in.. Valerie's arms...
    She leans over and tried to kiss my cheek... but Misty makes a growl noise and makes Valerie back away.
   I can see hurt in her eyes.. the hurt in my heart, I can see in her eyes..
    She turns away so I don't see but I already did. She gets herself more comfortable and I want to reach out but my hand is stuck under a massive paw.
    I'm warm. I'm comfortable. It could always get better and have her.. but.. Misty.....
    Valerie's back.. turned to me. I hear the smallest sigh, one not meant to be heard.
  I fall asleep to this.. though I want to be held by both my loves, I guess it can't happen that way.. maybe one day they will get along.
 
    A cry of pain chills my bones and I wake instantly.
"What the fuck did I do?" She rips her hand from Misty and jumps out of bed.
   I see scratch marks slowly heal.. large gashes up her side, arm and her hand has holes in it.
"I rolled over. It's not like I meant to touch your precious fucking angel."
   Her eyes find mine and I see tears form.
"It's not like I meant to fall in love either."
    My heart jumps. She's.. in love... with me..
"You can have her." Valerie holds her side that's bleeding and walks out of her room. My heart breaks instantly.
   I sit up ..the.. I want her to stay...
   Misty headbutts me.
"I can't.. I can't help whom I'm in love with. It happened on accident. If you can't make an effort than I can't bring you here. My heart wants to be here." I feel myself crying. "I know she's a demon and it should be wrong. But somehow I fell in love with her."
   I hear Joel yell from the living room. "What the fuck happened to you?"
   I wish I could hear her... see her.. tell her I'm sorry.
    Misty headbutts me again. It's... weird. Like she's apologizing.
"Let's get you home? We can deal with this later. I want to make sure she's okay but I don't think it's best you be here."
   I wrap my arms around Misty and blink home. As I pull back I see sorrow in her keen blue eyes.
"You're not losing me to her. She's not evil. And if you would just get along for my sake, maybe one day you'd like her. Maybe I could have you both with me. Maybe."
    I get up and grab a few sets of clothes because I know if I heal her.. I'll be drained. I blink back in her room and she's looking down at the bed.
   I don't think she sees me... her hands slightly shake. Her arm raises and wipes tears I didn't notice..
    I reach out to comfort her.
