-NINFA'S P.O.V-

I wish I could read her mind. She says I can if I tapped into the connection she set between us so long ago but I just can't. I've tried. I've tried so hard to.
Laying here with her as she sleeps but I cannot. Earlier she said something was going to happen and I feel it too. I feel like somethings going to happen. Or is happening. We just don't know what.
I fear for so many reasons. Fear of things I shouldn't because they're all just 'what ifs'. Nothing to worry about but I do.
I sigh lightly and fall asleep to her heartbeat. A beat I can't live without. A beat that calms me.

Slight movement from under me wakes me. But her heart beat sounds normal. Except not? My ears are slightly ringing and it's like my ears are slightly throbbing? But not my heart beating in them. It's weird. It's a weird sound.
I sit up and she's awake.
"I was enjoying holding you." She frowns.
I laugh lightly. "But you did move?"
"I was trying to keep other things from waking you."
Such as the hard length reach up my back. I'm use to waking to it though? She's very odd and confusing lately.
"Your point would be invalid if I'm use to it, Val."
"I'm sorry." She blushes heavily.
"Nothing to be sorry for? I like it, pretty sure you're aware of that."
She covers her face quickly. Hiding the blush. Hiding the beauty I caused.
"I could help out."
It feels like it's actually growing more. It makes me hungry. Hungry to think about. I want it.
I feel all of me burn up. All of me. And it only continues to burn until we're done.....
Back in her arms... Laying almost lifelessly. Desperately needing a shower but moving seems like too much energy.
"Can you hold on, Minx?"
"Yeah, Val."
She stands and I cling on. To the shower? To the shower, she's read my thoughts somehow but I can't hers.
The sharp pitch in my ear returns, along with the throbbing feeling. It's weird. I have to ask the elder if ..
"Ask me what?" He speaks in my head.
I almost forget he is there. He's not always there, only when I think I need him. Like now.
"Uh. I think I might check out what's going on in heaven?"
She sighs and finishes getting dressed. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah?"
"What if someone does something? You are sort of, kind of, are married to a demon? And happens to be spawn of  Lucifer..."
"They won't try anything."
"I worry."
"You've protected me well, Val."
"Yeah but I don't know if it works in heaven too. It's iffy."
"I have the arch angel on my side. And the Elder. I'll be good."
She wraps her arms around me and kisses my forehead. A sigh before she speaks. "I need you to come back to me, Ninfa."
"I will, don't worry."
"You can't ask that of me, Nin. I always will worry about you."
"I will be back soon. I promise."
She lifts my chin and leans down. Her lips touch mine and I kiss back. I love this.
She pulls back with a smile and I do same. "You better come back."
"Your home is in my arms, just as mine is in yours."
She kisses my forehead again. "I'll be waiting for you."
The high pitch tone happens in my ears again along with the thuds. It's such a weird feeling. It's just strange. Someone is signalling me.
"See you soon."
I blink to heaven. A place I use to call my home is now only a place I was born. No longer my home.
Everything seems the same. Almost. The Elder has taken over my quarters, which I expected.
"Ninfa. What a lovely surprise."
"Is there something wrong going on up here?"
"What do you mean?"
"I keep getting a high pitch scream type of noise in my ears. Nothing is wrong besides the war on earth so I thought maybe it was a signal from heaven or something."
The confused face he's giving me seems to answer my question. Not here. Must be somewhere else.
"There's nothing going on here? I'm bored out of my mind up here, Ninfa. But I get to watch you and your lover fight in the war, it's like watching movies or something."
The noise and thumping sounds happen again and it just confuses me even more. But this time it hurt a little. It hurt my stomach. Something is wrong somewhere and I'm being signaled in this weird way to help but I don't know how.
As my mind comes out of the fog, I begin overthinking. I really hope the battle is all he watches us do.
"And no, I do not watch you guys outside of the battlefield. The penthouse is protected from any magic other than Valerie's. So if she's not there, I can see through. If she's there, I'm blocked from seeing."
I'm relieved. I don't want anyone to see our private things.
"That's good to know?"
"Indeed."
I sit in front of him and he smiles. "Is that all that's brought you to heaven again?"
"I need to know what this sound is. Can you see if someone is signaling me or something?"
"I would have to reach inside your mind, heart and soul. You know how these things work."
I nod for him to. He grabs my hands and I feel him begin to channel power. I clear my mind to my best ability to allow him full access.
It takes a few long minutes. The sound returns and so does the thuds. It doesn't really last long, just same as usual ones.
As I open my eyes so does he. But his face is not one I am expecting. A confusion, a happiness, a very strange and way too many expressions to name type of face.
"Elder?"
"No one is signaling you, Ninfa."
"What does it mean?"
"When did you start to notice it?"
"Uh. Well... I've been really tired after fights and healing so I thought it was linked to that. But it's just now been like that since this morning."
    He grins. "Oh, Ninfa."
"Would you just tell me already? I do have to help save the world, you know?"
"Not so sure you should be doing so much work."
"I'm fine. I'm protected."
"Yeah but I'm not sure it is."
"What are you talking about?"
"Ninfa. You're pregnant."
The word rings in my ears. Or is it that sound again? My heart begins to race quickly.
When the ringing noise stops... the only sound I hear is heartbeat..s. Mine.. And its..
"Ninfa?"
I can't stop listening to it though. The tiny but strong little beats. I never thought... and...
My own heartbeat is outrageous as thoughts come flying in. What will Valerie think? What will she do? What will we do? Will she be mad at me?
"Ninfa.." his voice brings me back. "Are you alright?"
"I'm.. pregnant.."
He nods. The worry is strong in his eyes. The worry.. I almost forgot about Valerie... about going back..
"I have to go."
"I protect you and the child in whatever adventure you pursue. Don't over use your magic, it might not be good."
"Valerie said something was going to happen. And I'm not sure she meant this. Do you think you could dig around more than we can on our own?"
"Of course, Ninfa."
I bow my head quickly and blink back. Valerie immediately wraps her arms around me. I wasn't expecting her to be in the living room? Or did she run to me in her speed?
"How was it?" Joel is the first to speak.
"They are unchanged. Whatever is going to happen, heaven is no part to it."
"Are you okay?" She whispers into my ear.
Of course she would sense that something is wrong. I can't tell her... I'm not ready.. I'm afraid.
"I'm good." I lie the best I can. And I never lie...
I can tell she's not bought it but she drops it because of Joel.
"There's like a giant uprise. And not the being giants, I mean like a big uproar of all monster types."
"Where?"
"Somewhere off the coast of Florida. This mob is huge."
"Looks like we got work to do, Nin."
"And here I was comfortable in your arms." I mock her words from thos morning. Although I mean minr a thousand percent right now.
"For another time, love." She kisses my cheek before running off into our room.
"Joel. I need your help."
"What's up?"
I lower my voice to where only he can hear.
"I'm slightly terrified?" Beyond..
"Why?"
"The Elder.. I had this calling sound going off in my ears. Okay?"
He nods for me to continue.
"The Elder told me what it was." I sigh.
"For fucks sake, Ninfa, spit it out."
"I'm pregnant."
His eyes widen. A face like the Elder's. And now I'm wondering if it would ever be a good idea to tell her or maybe just.. just.. I don't know..
"Tell her."
"Tell me what?" Valerie comes back in with our gear.
I sort of freeze and look to Joel for help. Which, thankfully, he helped.
"She thought she lost her gun."
Okay. Not smooth at all. But eh. He did okay? Better than me cause I didn't say a damn thing.
"It was with the rest of our gear?"
"It was? It's been so long since I've actually used the gun."
"You wouldn't be wrong." She sighs. I can tell she knows something else is wrong. Or right? I don't know..
We prepare ourselves and then the flight into the almost night. Invisible and ready to go. Sort of.
"What's going on, Ninfa? You're not yourself."
"I'm alright, Val. Don't worry."
I'm worried. I'm scared of her reaction. I mean, I think at one point the thought it would have been nice to have kids. I don't know. I just don't know.
Our life is too hellish. I don't want to raise a child in such war. I'm scared because I think I want the baby but fear she will not.
We land and the sight is just chaos. Chaos and destruction. Though cloaked, we look around.
I hear the tiny heartbeats and almost smile. But if I would smile.. She would know.. I'm too scared to tell her.
But I'm more scared of this moment than any other. Sekia glows brightly and does an almost strobe. Her hand takes mine quickly.
"I want you to go."
"I'm not leaving."
"Now why would your little lover want to miss the fun, mutt?"
