CHAPTER 49

TOBIAS' POV:

"O-Ok." Tris replies.

She very carefully opens the envelope, and swiftly slides out her birth certificate.

She looks at me with excitement in her eyes. Her gaze shifts down to the paper in her hands and she smiles widely.

"April 6th." She whispers, still smiling to herself.

I smile, and hug her.

"Now you go." She insists.

"Ok."

I quickly open the envelope containing the answer to the question I've been asking myself my whole life. When is my birthday? When was I born?

I slide my certificate out, and look at Tris. She smiles.

I look at the paper, and it reads, "TOBIAS EATON
Father: MARCUS EATON
Mother: EVELYN EATON
Faction: ABNEGATION
Date of Birth: NOVEMBER 19
Time of Birth: 7:40 P.M."

My small footprint is on the bottom.

I smile. November 19th. My birthday. I was born on November 19th. I let it all sink in.

I hug Tris tightly, and whisper, "November 19th." In her ear.

I pull away, and out my lips on hers. My body buzzes with electricity, and happiness.

Tris blushes. I don't know why she still does that. I chuckle.

"What?" She questions.

"You."

"Me?"

"Yeah. You were blushing."

"So? I do that a lot." She defends herself.

"I know. It's cute."

She blushes once again.

"See?!?" I say.

She laughs.

"We're here."

I help Tris gather her family's things, and we jump off the train, headed towards the Dauntless compound.

We reach our apartment, and Tris puts our birth certificates with all our important documents.

She sets the picture of her parents on her nightstand. She also tucks her fathers shirt into a drawer.

"Wanna call Chris, Shauna, Zeke, and Uri?" She asks.

"Sure." I smile.

I walk out of room and call our friends, who say they'll be here ASAP.

I go back into the bedroom, and see Tris sniffling, holding back tears. She's wearing Caleb's sweatshirt.

I go over and hug her tight.

"It's ok. You can cry." I tell her.

And, she does. I hear a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I yell.

I hear the door click open.

"Four?"

"In here!"

Our friends enter the room.

"Tris, are you ok?" Asks a concerned Christina.

Tris just buries her head deeper into my chest, embarrassed.

"Maybe we should wait in the living room." Suggests Shauna. I nod.

Tris looks up at me.

"Th-this one was his f-favorite." She looks at the sweatshirt.

"Then it's good that you have it, and it's not forgotten in an abandoned house." I say soothingly.

She nods.

"You ready to go out there?" I ask.

"Let me use the restroom first." She says. I assume she is going to try and wash the tear marks off of her face.

I go to the living room, and am bombarded with questions.

"What happened?"

"Did you find out your birthdays?"

"Is she ok?"

And even a, "What was she wearing?!?" From Christina.

Tris walks in, and they all fall
silent.

"Hey..." She says awkwardly.

"What's that?" Asks Chris, pointing at Tris' sweater with a look of disgust on her face.

"It was Caleb's." Tris says harshly, trying to defend her brother.

"Oh." Chris looks ashamed.

"Did you get 'em?" Asks Zeke.

"Yeah." Tris and I say together smiling.

"My birthday is November 19th." I state.

"Mine is April 6th." Says Tris.

They all cheer.

"Tris your birthday was last month!" Says Christina.

"You're 18!" I say.

She smiles.

"Now we're only a year apart. You're still 19."

I chuckle.

"OMG!" Chris exclaims.

"What?"

"Tris! You're birthday is 4/6!"

I laugh.

"It was meant to be."
