Connor’s POV
Joey pulls over on to the curb of the street mine and Ricky’s house is at. “See ya guys,” Cat says.
“Later guys,” Joey says. “Connor, I’ll call you when I get home.”
“Okay,” I tell him.
Ricky and I walk inside the house and Ricky asks, “Do you need any help with unloading?”
“Actually, Joey and I already unloaded everything,” I say while I pointed to the stuff in the corner.
“Oh,” Ricky says sadly. Why’s he so sad? Should I ask him about or let it go? I should do something to cheer him up.
“Do you want to help set the TV up,” I ask.
“Sure,” he says still sad.
We start working on the TV for several minutes. I look up at Ricky and see that he is still sad. “Okay,” I say. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Ricky says.
“Ricky, you and I both know that something is wrong,” I tell him. “So drop the bull crap, and tell me.”
“Okay, fine,” Ricky says. He walks over to the couch and sits down. I follow him and sit with him. “Um, Cat and I broke up.”
“Oh,” I say feeling guilty. “Why’d did you break up?”
“Cat said we had nothing in common,” Ricky tells.
“I’m sorry, Ricky,” I tell him sympathetically. “You’ll find someone. I know you will.”
I place my hand on his shoulder to comfort him. “No,” Ricky says. “I can’t lie to you, you’re my friend. That’s not why we broke up.”
“Oh, so why did you really break up,” I ask surprised
“Cat and I broke up because I never really like her,” Ricky says sadly. “And I never will because I’m gay. There’s someone else I like.”
“Oh, wow, um,” I say shocked. “I’m happy for you.”
“Really,” Ricky says.
“Yeah,” I tell him. “I mean, I’m gay. So, this isn’t going to phase me that much.”
“I’m glad you feel that way,” Ricky says with a smile.
“So,” I ask with a smile.
“Connor, don’t,” Ricky says.
“What,” I ask laughing a little. “You don’t even know what I was going to ask.”
“I know exactly what you are going to ask,” Ricky says. “So just ask and let’s get this over with.”
“Okay,” I say. “So, who do you have a crush on?”
“You don’t know him,” Ricky says. “It’s a guy I met while at work. I was checking out his groceries a few days ago.”
“So, if you had feelings for him,” I ask curiously. “Why’d you decide to date Cat?”
“Well when Cat and I met up to talk about the rules and stuff for the store,” Ricky says. “Cat just asked if I would date her and with it catching me by surprise….”
“You just agreed to it,” I say finishing his sentence. “Yeah, I’ve had that happen to me too.”
“Thanks for understanding,” Ricky says with a smile. “So, you want to finish up on that TV?”
“Sure,” I tell him.
??? POV
I’m sitting in my car listening to Not Over You by Gavin DeGraw. “And I sit down, at a table set for two and finally I’m forced to face the truth. No matter what I say I’m not over you.”
Those words are so true. Every time I’m sitting in here in my car, all I can think about is him. Why won’t he leave my mind? I mean, it’s been a few months since we broke up, but he just won’t leave my dreams.
“And if I had the chance to renew. You know there is nothing I wouldn’t do.”
There really is nothing I wouldn’t do to get back with him because I don’t think I will ever get over him. I know I was the reason we broke up, but maybe he’ll give me a second chance. I look to the clock and see that it is seven o’clock pm. I need to talk to him or I think I might explode. I start up my car and start heading to his place.
It’s been months, could he still be holding that grudge against me. I know there’s no way I can make up for what I did, but I will do whatever it takes to get him back. I pull up to his place and exit my vehicle. I make my way up to his place and just stand there that at his door. I raise my hand to knock on the door. I began to knock on the door, but as I was about to make contact with the door, I freeze. My nerves paralyzed my body. I tried to knock but it was like some force just prevented me from doing so. I lower my hand and take a deep breath. Okay, you can do this, just knock on the door and talk to him. The worse that can happen is he say is no or something.
After my breath, I raise my hand and this time my nerves were no longer stopping. I then knock on the door. “Hold on,” I hear someone say behind the door.
I then hear someone walking up to the door. My heart starts to beat faster than ever. I then hear the door unlock. I look to the door knob and see it turn slowly. The door swings open to see him standing there just staring at me. His eyes widen with a phone in his hand. “Let me call you back,” he tells the person on the phone. “SHANE?!”
