Ricky’s POV
“So Ricky, are you ready to listen,” Earl says.
I was still stuck in a state of shock to respond. I just froze there.
“Ricky…Ricky….RICKY,” Earl says.
I jump and say, “Yeah, sorry. What did you say?”
“I asked are you ready to listen,” Earl asks.
“Yeah, yeah I’m ready,” I say.
“Are you okay,” Earl asks.
“Yeah, I’m fine,” I say. “I’m just tired. I’ve been up for a while.”
“Well, I’ll make this quick, so you can get home and sleep,” Earl says. “Due to this….situation with Mr. Rogers, I will be taking over as your new boss. I looked through the records and I saw that you and Ricky have put a lot of hours in here and I also noticed that you two was not paid fairly for your work. So, the reason I wanted you here is to tell you that you and Connor are receiving a major raise.”
“How much,” I ask surprised.
“How does a ten dollar raise sound,” Earl asks.
“That sounds amazing,” I say. “Thank you!”
“You’re welcome,” Earl says. “You two earned it. Now, there is one more thing.”
“Okay,” I say.
“We are going to need some more employees to get this place off the ground,” Earl says. “Would you know anyone?”
“Well, Kian is staying with me and my friends,” I say. “I could see if he wants to.”
“That sounds great,” Earl says. “Let me know what he says as soon as possible.”
“Okay,” I say. “Is that all?”
“Yes, that’s all,” Earl says. “Now go home and get some sleep. Work starts tomorrow at ten o’clock AM.”
“Okay, see ya Earl,” I say and leave.
I walk over to Cat’s car and I say, “Cat, can we go back to the apartment?”
“Yeah,” Cat says.
