The police station was filled with people who ran around like maniacs in different directions. At the information desk stood a young girl with blond hair and crystal clear eyes and when I slowly approached her, she flashed me a gigantic smile.
- How can I help you? She asked and the smile didn't leave her lips once
- I'm here to pay my stepfathers bail. He stole some stuff down at the supermarket and I got a call a couple of minutes ago that he was here
- Right, you must be Magnus Bane. My colleague, Anna, she told me everything about what happened with your stepfather and what he did to end up her, the girl answered
I nodded my head in response and tried to act like this whole fucked up situation didn't matter to me.
- Where is he now? I asked
- He's probably waiting in one of our many cells. I'll make a quick call and my other colleague, Mr. Garroway, will bring you right to him
- Thank you, I answered
The girl walked away with her phone in her hand and while I stood alone at the desk, I started to observe everyone who was at the station. There was a lot of cops, obviously, but there was also a lot of ordinary people who sat on different benches and looked rather miserable.
- You must be Magnus Bane
The dark voice almost made me flinch and as I turned around, I met eyes with a tall man with dark skin colour. He looked older than the girl who talked to me only seconds ago, but he looked more kindly.
- That's me, I stuttered
- Well, my name is Luke Garroway and I'll bring you to your stepfather, but first, you have to pay his bail
- How much? I asked and sighed because honestly, I'm a little bit broke at the moment and I would rather not spend all of my money on my psychopathic stepfather
- 60,45 dollar, Luke answered and looked at me with what looked like a pitiful facial expression
- That's a lot of money for stealing some stuff at a supermarket, I breathed out and felt how I wanted to punch someone in the face
- I'm really sorry to break it to you Mr. Bane, but a crime is a crime and if you don't want your stepfather to go to jail, 60,45 dollar is the amount of money you have to pay
- Fine, I answered
I took out the money from my wallet, which now is absolutely empty, and handed it over to Luke. He took the money from my hand but for some reason, the pitiful expression didn't leave his face. I would take a wild guess and say that it's mostly because he just witnessed a 18 year old teenager who had to spend his last amount of money to pay his idiotic stepfathers stupid bail so he wouldn't have to spend who knows how many years in prison.
- It's very kind of you to do this for your stepfather, Luke said and flashed me a very quick smile
- It's not like he deserves it, but I can't keep our apartment if he ends up in jail, I answered and sighed
- I'm little bit of a stepfather myself and if Clary payed my bail, I would honestly be forever thankful
- Clary? I asked surprised and looked at the man in front of me
- Yeah, that's my girlfriends daughter. She's really nice and I would probably say that she's as old as you, Luke answered and flashed me one more big smile
- Wait, Clary Fairchild?
- Yes, do you know here?
- We have P.E together and she's dating my friends brother, I said
- Right, that Herondale boy. I have never really liked him, but Clary seems very fond of him for some reason, Luke answered
- Love does that to a person, I whispered in hope that he seriously wouldn't hear me because honestly, I was blushing like crazy
The two of us walked over to a back door that lead to a bigger room where all of the cells were placed. As we reached the cell that held my stepfather captured, I saw how she sat on the bed with his head hanging low. Like every other damn person at this placed, he looked rather miserable, almost a little broken.
- Elijah, your bail has been payed and you're now free to go, Luke said and looked at my stepfather
He looked up and as his eyes came across me, a disgusting smile appeared on his hideous face.
- Hello there, Mags. I have missed you. Where have you been? He asked and kept smiling like an idiot
- Non of your business, I answered
My stepfather stood up from the bed he was sitting on and as he started walking, Luke opened the door to the cell so he could walk out.
- Thank you so much, he said and flashed Luke a teasing smirk
Without waiting for him, I started to walk back to the main hall of the police station and it wasn't before I reached the front door that my stepfather caught up with me.
- It surely wasn't yesterday, Mags. How's your face? He asked and let out a chuckle like he didn't care at all that he actually punched me
- Shut up, I answered
Since no one of us had a car, I called after a taxi and when we finally returned back to our shitty apartment, I walked straight into my bedroom and closed the door. I really didn't feel like talking to my stepfather at all at the moment because he would probably just tease me that I payed his stupid bail. I decided to go to bed and forget all about this day so I quickly got dressed in my pyjamas and thereafter, I laid down on my bed. As my head finally met my extremely comfortable pillow, my phone vibrated from my nightstand, signalling that I got a text message. I let out a loud sighed, sat up in my bed and stretched out for my phone.
"How did it go? -Alec"
I low-key loves how Alexander still made sure that I knew that it was him who texted me even though we already have each other's number. It made him even more adorable than he already is, if that's even possible. Unfortunately, I really didn't feel like talking to anyone at the moment so I quickly sent away a short answer that it went terrible and after that, I friend off my phone and laid back down on my comfortable bed. My eyes felt already very heavy, which lead to the fact that it only took minutes for me to fall asleep.
