  "Hello?"
"Joslyn! You won't believe this."
"What? I'm at work."
"Yea me too. But listen, I'm so bored! We should-"
"No. Friday and Saturdays only."
"Joslynnn. I swear you're so boring sometimes."
"The life of adulthood Brooke." I say as I fold clothes from the store.

"Sucks. Well I'll beg you more later, bye love."
"Bye."

I put my phone away and continue folding. Only one hours left.

"Hey Joslyn."
I turn around and see Mason leaning against one of the clothes rack.
"You better watch out before you fall."
"Aw, are you worried about me?" he ask playfully.
"No, just worried if you'll knock over the rack. I would have to clean it up."

He chuckles and gets off the clothes rack.
"Lunch today?" he ask.

"No."

"What, why not?"

"Because I've got a date with my bed and my textbook. Oh and who could forget the main course of a cup of noodles, yum!" I reply.

"Well, as fun as that sounds.."
"Bye Mason."

"Can I at least get your number?"
"I'll think about it."
"How long will that take?"
"I don't know. Come back in an hour."
He nods and walks away without another word.
Oh god, is he actually going to come back in an hour?
I shake my head and watch him walk away into the store somewhere.

"It's been an hour, I think you owe me something madam."

"No."

"Is that a no for an answer or no I can't get your number?"

"Exactly." I smile.

"Come on. What can I do to get your number?"
I think about this for a few seconds. What do I want him to do? Other than the incident, he's been nothing but nice to me.

"Look, I'm not interested in a relationship or anything-"
"And that's fine." he answers. "I'm just asking for friendship, not a whole wedding ceremony."
"Friendship?"
"Friendship."
"Alright, I can deal with that."
"See, was that so hard?" he teases.
"Very much so. What's your number?"

We exchange numbers and I actually feel good about it. I expected regret but it didn't appear.

"So I'll call you-" he starts.
"No."
"What?"
I smile, waiting until he realizes I'm kidding. When he finally does, he laughs loudly to the point where other customers turn to look.
"Okay okay! It's not that funny! Keep your voice down!" I whisper-yell.

He only laughs louder which leads me to the final option.

Walking away like I don't even know him.
                        Thank god my shifts up.

"How was that test?" Brooklyn ask me.
"Fine I guess, won't know until 2 days... um.. why do you ask?"
"I can't ask about my best friend's progress in her classes?"
"Um..sure but in all of four years you've never done it before so.."
"Well I'm doing it now."
"There's something else to this. Spit it out Brooke."

She sits on my bed and takes a deep breath.
Here we go.

"You should call."
"Brooklyn-"
"It's so boring! The week is going so slow and it's only Monday. Monday! Could you believe it?"
"Don't you have a test to study for?"
"No, but I do have an assignment to do. Anyway, Joslyn please."
"Brooke. We don't even know her! She could be a criminal for all we know. And her brother, who knows, he could have STDs."

Her silence hangs in the room for a minute.
"I guess you're right."

"Go study or something. We'll do something Friday, okay?"

"Alright. It's just.. it's almost over, you know?"

I know what she's talking about. The only time where we can actually party and have fun while we're young and in college. The thought of it all ending and us having to focus only on work and responsibilities sends shivers and sadness over me.

"I know."
She nods and heads over to her bed.
It's almost over...
