Chapter 36: Sangria's Trial

"If youre going to execute her, then execute me too! If youre going to banish her from the Kingdom, then banish me too! If youre going to continue to accuse her, then accuse me too! I keep telling you, I know she's not a legal concubine! She had my approval! And I mean it! Do anything that would hurt her and I will really renounce my title as the King of Ponte Zaltalluna!! Im not kidding! Im serious! Dont make me do it!"

Napayuko na lang ako sa mga pinaggagawa ni Scott at napasapok sa noo ko. Seriously, he shouldnt be doing this! Just for my sake!

"Scott! Pedeng umupo na lang?" sitsit ko sa Hari at hatak sa kamay nya para sapilitang iupo. "Ginagalit mo lalo ang council eh."

We've been doing this hearing for.. I dont know.. two months? Yes, almost two months I think. Its already been two months since Scott's mom accused me of treason and bringing it up to the Royal Court. My hearing started to just questions. The council asking me who entered my name in the list of the concubines. Of course, di ko nilaglag si Tito Ravan. I kept it secret to Scott for weeks not until the King learned everything from Khalid. 

Yes! Khalid became so desperate that he cannot contact Tedros, that he has no means of telling Tedros that Im up for execution, so he turned to Scott for help instead!

Now Scott had been involving himself in my case so damn much that his Mom, the Queen became more angry at me!

"Sire." baling sa kanya ng isang miyembro ng Royal Court. "Even if she's under your protection, she must answer our questions truthfully. Now Sangria." lipat nya ng tingin sa akin. "Who entered your name as a concubine? Are you plotting something against Zaltalluna?"

Sasagot na sana ako ng biglang unahan ni Scott. 

"Why does it matter?" iritang sipat ng Hari. "Nothing bad happened since! If she's a traitor or anything, she should have performed her deed a long time ago!"

Napailing na lang ang Royal Court kay Scott. Ganitong ganito kami kada may pandinig sa kaso ko. Masyado nya kong pinoprotektahan. Ayaw nya kong magsalita dahil lahat daw ng sasabihin ko ay maaring gamitin laban sa akin. 

"This hearing is now dismissed. We keep repeating Sire, we are not making a progress because of you." tayo ng pinuno ng Royal Court at alis. Tumayo na rin ang iba at isa isa na silang lumabas ng kwarto.

Bumagsak na lang ang ulo ko sa lamesa pagkatapos. Really! Im fcking stressed! And Tedros dont have any idea that this is happening to me already! Ano bang ginagawa ng lalaking yun! Pag talaga ako, nadedbol dito, mumultuhin ko sya!

"Honey." hawak ni Scott sa ulo para iangat. He held my cheeks then and looked into my eyes. 

"I know youre getting tired already but this is our only way to extend your life. Give them a hard time and they will eventually give up."

"Seryoso? Isusuko din nila to? Kelan? After fifty years?"

"Honey, stop stressing! Im doing everything I can!"

"Yun nga Scott eh! Ginagawa mo ang lahat! Hiyang hiya na ako! Hari ka pero inuubos mo ang oras mo sa akin! Napapabayaan mo na ang Zaltalluna! Pinag-iinitan na ko ng lahat dito!"

"Then what do you want me to do?! Just let your execution happen?!"

I was about to argue to Scott, to tell him to just call Tedros so he can rescue me but I didnt had the courage to tell. Habang tumatagal, paliit ng paliit ang pag-asa ko na babalikan pa ko ng Heneral. Kung malaman ba ni Tedros, may pakialam pa ba sya sa akin?
