CARTER (CHAPTER 26)

"You hungry?" I ask Taylor from the kitchen, looking inside the fridge to find something, yet nothing interests me. Nor makes me hungry.

Taylor and I spend at least two hours outside, deciding to just call it quits and walk back in the house. After that, all conversation that I had with her of fooling around and saying that she liked me, her tone suddenly just shifted. She didn't talk, nor answer in full sentences if I asked her a question.

Only a yes or no would do it.

And now we're in the kitchen, me looking through the fridge to find something edible, and Taylor, sitting down on one of the chairs that are around the kitchen island.

"Taylor?" I question. "You hungry or what?" I repeat my question, only getting the shake of a head from her.

"Nope," she sighs, looking down at the ground.

"Anything to drink then?" I change the question, confused as to why she's acting so... cold.

"I'm fine." I raise an eyebrow at her, seeing her move her body to the side, which makes the chair turn as well.

"You sure?" I ask once more.

"I'm fine Carter." I raise my hands up in defence.

"Got it," I mouth, closing the fridge. "Well if you don't want to eat anything, or drink," I sigh, "Do you want to watch a movie?"

The movie is the only idea I have at the moment. I got nothing. Literally. Nothing.

"What kind of movie?" she asks, raising her eyebrow.

"Anything you want," I shrug. "I'm fine with it," I smile, leaning against the kitchen island.

"Really?" she crosses her arms, searching my face to see if I was playing a game.

"Well yeah, I chuckle. "Really."

"Okay then..." she bites her lip, tapping her jaw. "I want to watch Titanic."

Say what?

"Who's that?" I question, raising my eyebrows. "Is that some actor's name?"

Her eyes suddenly widen, jaw dropped as she stares at me with shock.

"You've never watched Titanic before?"

I shake my head. "Is it a good movie?"

"It's one of the best movies ever created!" she shouts, practically jumping off the chair, walking towards me.

"Who plays in it?" I honestly don't know what the fuck Titanic even is. Sounds like an action movie to me.

"Leonardo DiCaprio!" she puts her hands up.

"Who?"

"You're kidding me," she coughs out, looking taken aback by my question.

"Oh wait!" I yell, snapping my fingers as I try to remember where I've seen this guy before. "He played in that, um, romance movie," I tell her.

"Wow, that's not vague at all," she rolls her eyes.

"Wait, no. I got it!" I smile. "Romeo and Juliet. He played in that movie with that Homeland girl," I proudly say, remembering the movie very well as I watched it twice in English class, back when I was a freshman.

"You mean Claire Danes?"

"Sure," I shrug, not at all knowing her name. I just know that she plays in that tv show. Homeland.
