TAYLOR (CHAPTER 42)

"Well, this is it," I say to Lila with a sad smile.

"Crap, I didn't know I was going to cry this much," she says with a laugh, wiping away her tears.

"You think that's too much? I cried through this whole week."

"This sucks though! Do you have to go?" I nod, not loving this idea as well.

"You know I have to. I mean mom already did the papers without my permission of course.."

"She's such a bitch," Lila mutters.

"Lila! Don't say that. She's our mother, not a female dog."

"Does it look like I give a shit? She did this whole thing without your permission! And now you're leaving me!"

"You have Shawn!" She scoffs, rubbing her eyes.

"I don't want him, Taylor. I want you," she says with a sad smile.

"Aw, Lila," I pull her in a tight hug, not wanting to let her go yet I know I have to.

"I love you," she whispers in my ear.

"I love you more,' I say as I cry even more than before.

"Taylor!" she shouts.

"Shawn?" I let Lila go, turning my head back to see Shawn running like someone's chasing him. In seconds he swallows me in a hug, lifting me up from the ground, tightly wrapping his arms around me.

"You're leaving me?!" Shawn says, his voice breaking.

"Wow, I didn't know you were gonna miss me that much Shawn," I say. He lets me down, scoffing as he rubs my head, messing my hair.

"What the hell are you talking about? You're like my little sister! You leaving will never be the same."

"You'll have Lila," I point at her. He rolls his eyes, pulling me yet again in a tight hug.

"There's a difference between a girlfriend and a best friend. You're basically my best friend."

"Wait, what?" Lila says.

"Don't worry babe, I still love you," Shawn says as he breaks the hug and walks to Lila.

"Call me when you arrive okay?" Lila says. I nod as I grab both my suitcases and my bag.

"I will don't worry."

"And call Carter." My heart stops as I hear his name.

"What?"

"Carter, Taylor. Call your boyfriend." I roll my eyes at Lila.

"He's not my boyfriend Lila. Not anymore at the least."

"Wait, wait... did you break up with the guy or something?"

"Of course I did Shawn." He raises an eyebrow at me in confusion.

"But why?" I groan, rubbing my eyes in annoyment by all these questions.

"Because I can't do long distance, Shawn! It would never work out."

"So you broke the poor guy's heart?"

"I thought you didn't like him, Shawn," I say.

"I didn't. But now, I feel a bit sorry for the kid. I mean he wasn't horrible or anything, I just thought he would break your heart first. But sadly, it's the other way around. You broke it first."

"Are you trying to make me feel like a jerk again?" He shrugs, throwing his arm around Lila. "No, I'm not. But I am telling you the truth. Men have feelings as well Taylor. Hell, if Lila broke up with me, I'd cry. And I'm one hundred percent sure he's doing the same." I wipe away a tear as it falls down my cheek.

"Well, it's too late now okay? I'm boarding the plane in less than an hour. There's nothing I can do."

"Well, you could do one thing," Lila says. I raise an eyebrow at her in confusion. "You could call him when you land in Paris," she says. Sighing I rub my eyes, not loving the idea of calling Carter and hearing his voice.

"Fine. Now, give me a hug so I can leave alright?" I say to both of them. In seconds Shawn pulls me in his arms for a hug, Lila as well. "I'll miss you guys," I tell them.

"We'll miss you more," Lila says.

"Ditto kid." After a good minute of hugging, they both let me go, both of their eyes filled with tears, yet mine are as well. Walking away from them I wave a final goodbye, watching both of them with sad expressions on their face, yet I know they're trying to be strong. I am as well.

"Paris, France?" The ticket agent says. Nodding at him with a smile, he gives me my ticket back and passport. "Bon voyage," he says.

"Merci beaucoup." Boarding the plane I take one last look behind me, knowing that as soon as I step on this plane, I'm leaving Florida behind me. All my friends and family are gone. Just. Gone.

Well, you know what they all say.
