Chapter 34

(Y/N)'s Pov

I was lying in a hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. Nurses and doctors were attending to the wound in my arm, caused by Light shooting me...

It must have been a gun that L gave him, probably when they were in the helicopter or something, since I never saw L give him a gun.

I knew Light was in prison, but I couldn't help but wonder how he was feeling. I know he must be pretty bad, but still...

I felt bad for Light's father. Chasing after a criminal that turns out to be his own son...It must be awful for him...

I couldn't help but think that this whole case went very quickly too...
One minute we were struggling to find evidence, now we have finally caught the true Kira.
I also couldn't help but feel that the case was rather fun to work on too. The taskforce are very kind and L...
Well, L is just amazing...
Words can't describe how helpful they have been...
I've actually been able to form decent conversations with all of them.

I then noticed something...

Now that this case is closed...

I'm going to have to move back to (C)...and probably get a new job too...

I didn't want to think about that. I wanted to stay with L...but that is something that has to be done...

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the door to my room opening.
In walked L...

"How are you feeling (Y/N)? Are you alright?"

I nod.

"That's good. I'm glad to see that you're getting better".

"I-I told y-you, it's o-only a g-graze", I say.

"I know. But I was still concerned...because..."

L held my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"I love you (Y/N)".

I feel my cheeks heat up at those words.

"I-I love you too", I say back. "A-And I'm g-glad th-that you h-have a-accepted me f-for wh-who I am. No one...h-has ever d-done that b-before..."

"I'm not like anyone else", L said, kissing my hand.

"I g-gathered that", I giggle.

"I understand you're still nervous and shy from your anxiety, so we should just go at our own pace".

I nod.

"L-Lawliet...?" I whisper quietly.

"Yes?"

"Th-The case i-is over...I-I'll have t-to go back t-to (C) soon..."

"Yes...I understand that..."

L looked at the floor as I feel tears forming in my eyes.

"I...I w-wanna s-stay w-with you!" I say, tears falling down my face.

L leaned towards me on his seat and put both his hands on my cheeks, wiping my tears away.

"It will be okay. Try not to worry so much (Y/N). Focus on getting better for now".

I nod and sniff as L sits back in his seat.

"Miss (Y/N), you have another visitor", a nurse walked into the room.

"S-Send them i-in", I call quietly, but loud enough for the nurse to hear me.

It was Misa.

She's probably annoyed that Light is in prison. I was waiting for her to start yelling at L and I.

"How are you feeling (Y/N)?" She asked, to my surprise.

"I-I'm okay", I reply.

"I'm sorry this happened to you".

"I-It's okay. I-it's not y-your fault!"

"I didn't know Light was capable of doing something like that. I really am sorry".

Although Misa and I haven't had that much contact throughout the investigation, and she is quite crazy when she was around Light, Misa is a very good person.

"A-Are you g-gonna have th-the Sh-Shinigami kill us?" I ask.

"Huh?"

"The Sh-Shinigami that w-we saw in th-the taskforce, c-cares for you M-Misa. Sh-She wants you t-to be h-happy. So she w-would kill L a-and I i-if you say s-so".

"What the heck?! I'd never have you killed (Y/N)! And I wouldn't want you to be upset either, so I wouldn't have L killed either. The two of you have grown really close. I wanna be a bridesmaid for your wedding when that comes!" Misa started laughing.

I flinched as L's eyes widened.

"I-I wouldn't go that far just yet..." L said, looking at the floor.

"Y-Yeah! W-We're going at a s-slow pace!" I say.

"You keep telling yourself that! You slept in the same bed together! I mean, L had you handcuffed to him, and you weren't even a Kira suspect!" Misa gave L a devilish smirk.

"I-I needed (Y/N)'s skills to help me..."

"That's a very stupid excuse!" Misa said.

"M-Misa!"

Misa started laughing again. I laughed nervously and L just scowled at her.

"S-So, h-how are y-you d-dealing with L-Light being in p-prison?" I ask.

Misa looked at the floor.

"Well...he was the only person, besides my parents, I ever loved. He killed the man who killed my parents. He meant everything to me. But sometimes I felt like I didn't mean anything to him. Like he took advantage of me. It will take some time for me to wrap my head around this. Light really was a kind person. I just think that Kira got the better of him too much. I think this might be for the best".

Misa then started crying.

"Y-You are a v-very k-kind person M-Misa", I say, giving her a small smile.

Misa looked up at me and smiled, through her tears.

"Thank you (Y/N)".

Soon, the same nurse came back into the room and disrupted our little moment.

"Excuse me. Visiting hours are over. The two of you will have to leave now", she said to Misa and L.

Misa got up and made her way to the door.

"I'll see you again soon (Y/N)! I know you'll be leaving to your home country soon, but I'm sure we'll reunite one day! Be sure to call me and text me too!"

"I-I will! I-I p-promise you th-this time!"

Misa then left.

L turned to me, and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"I'll see you soon (Y/N)", L said, patting my head.

I blush and give him a smile as he gets up and makes his way out the door.

It's going to hurt so much to leave this place...
