CH 25 Escape

(Finn's Point of View)

All appears to be going to plan. The Star Fighter took us in at Bay 3, and two troopers came aboard to inspect the Millennium Falcon. We tied them up and hid them. Rose and Leia are under the floor waiting for our return. If anyone else boards the ship we can't risk their being seen. We told the supervisor waiting outside we found one prisoner and were instructed to take him to the prison. Before we reach the elevator, Poe and I receive a message through our helmets telling us to get to the Prison Level. A prisoner has escaped and we're ordered to find him. A squad of stormtroopers rushes past us and wait for the elevator.

The supervisor yells “You two!” I turn around in fear, “Use the elevator in Bay 4 and get him up there straight away.”

I nod my head and we walk past the elevator. My heart is beating faster than usual with the fear of getting caught and getting yelled at doesn't help. Luckily I know where Bay 4 is from here so we look like we know what we're doing. We pass through multiple hallways, frantic troopers and commanders passing us. Once we arrive at Bay 4 there is almost no one left in it. A traffic controller sits at a desk in the corner minding his own business. We disregard him and approach the elevators. I press the button and wait in silence. I imagine all the elevators are extremely occupied but it shouldn't be too long of a wait. After about 2 to 3 minutes the bell rings and the doors slide open. To my surprise Rey and Kylo Ren lie behind them.

Poe and I look at each other and he immediately blurts out, “Well that was easy.”

Rey takes a step back and looks to Chewie in confusion. I take off my helmet to show her who we are and she smiles. I'm so glad we found her I could hug her, but we don't. Kylo Ren is standing right next to her and I do not particularly feel like being near him right now, actually ever. He almost killed Rey and he DID kill Solo. I don't know how she forgave him or why she came after him but at least she's okay now. I'd actually be fine with leaving him behind but she probably doesn't have the same idea.

“What are you guys doing here? I'm so sorry I left you. How did you find Chewie? Where are Leia and Rose?” She asks quickly.

“Slow down,” I smile back, “We’ll tell you everything when we get back to the ship.”

I hear someone else talking so I turn around and look. The traffic controller is staring right at us and talking through a radio.

“Oh no.” I exhale.

Rey asks, “What?”. Then  takes a step out of the elevator and looks where I'm looking “Oh.”

“Arrrggghhhhh aahhhhrrrr?” Chewie says something.

“Agreed, where is the ship?” Rey asks.

“Bay 3, it's not far.” Poe answers her.

We run back the way we came and leave the traffic controller behind. It's too late, the word is already out. Eventually we come upon another hallway and are about to go around the corner.

“It's just to the left.” I assure them.

By now we've released Chewie of his restraints and are moving at a swift pace.

All of a sudden someone behind us yells, “Hey! Stop right there!”

When I turn around I see a whole group of stormtroopers following us.

I take out my blaster and yell, “Get to the ship!”.

They all see why I'm yelling and Poe does what I do in addition to giving Chewie his own blaster. We turn the corner and use it for cover as the whole hallway breaks out into a fight. They start firing on us and we fire back. We could keep running but they'd just catch us in this stretch of hallway and we'd have no cover, so we stay here shooting down anyone who dares get closer. Behind me I hear Kylo Ren and Rey exchange a few words but I can't tell what they are over the sound of shooting. I turn around and see Rey running down the hallway. I don't know what she's doing but I can't believe she left us with this guy. The man who called me a traitor. I hope he doesn't do it again because this time it will end badly for him, I swear. I notice he now has Rey’s blaster and I'm even more confused.

He joins us in the battle with it and this goes on for almost 5 minutes until he yells, “She has the ship fired up! If we run fast enough we can make it on time!”

“Okay, let's go!” I yell back over the firing and we take off running.

We almost get to the Docking Bay when the sound of footsteps echoes through a hallway and we turn our heads in fear. As we do shots leave their blasters and we try to hide behind nothing. Kylo Ren turns around completely and throws his hands up towards the shots. They stop mid air and he holds everything coming at us until we make it out of the hallway. Once we do, I tell them to get back to the ship and I turn around to cover his back while he runs towards me. As he runs the shots graze past him. Just before he reaches me his back catches one and he falls to the ground. I ponder for a second on whether or not to just leave him but Rey would probably get mad at me. So I run towards him, pick him up and help him back to the ship as swiftly as possible. Somehow we make it back and board it. I take him to the med-bay and tell him I'll get Rey. When I get to the cockpit Rey is sitting in the Pilot's chair.

I tell her Ren has been shot and she asks, “What?! Are you okay? Where is he?”
“Yeah I'm fine and he's in the Med-Bay.” I reply.

“I got this, you go take care of him.” Poe tells her.

“Thank you.” She says and runs out.

I go find Rose and Leia and help them out. Once Rose is out she throws her arms around me.

“Thank you.” She whispers and I hug her back.

“My son?” Leia asks.

I let go of Rose and look at her. "He was shot. He should be fine though. Maybe you should wait until Rey is done helping him to go see him.” I suggest.

She just nods her head and we go back to the cockpit. Poe has already taken us to light speed and we intend on finding out where we're headed.
