"At ease. You two are dismissed." the man said after stopping in front of the guards. I looked over at McLoughlin who was slowly inching his way towards me. He met my gaze and tried to show a smile. The two guards took too long to leave. I just wanted them to leave me alone. I glanced at my back. It looked like a scene from a horror movie. The stinging pain started the ease its way up the wounds on my back. I winced as I tried to turn my body back.

McLoughlin rushed towards me and gently put a hand on my shoulder. When I looked up at him he was worried. He placed the medical supplies he had beside him and laid out what he needed on the floor. Before he started, he looked back at the other man who had leaned against the wall. McLoughlin turned back and picked up some of the supplies he had laid out. He tended to the whip wounds with great care. With a gentle and steady hand, he cleaned and bandaged the wounds. I looked over as the other man sat down, still leaning against the wall.

"He's a Master Sergeant. That's why the two guards saluted him. Also, tell me if any of this hurts. I don't want to put you in more pain." McLoughlin said. I nodded in return.
