I had to find a way to tell her what I just found out. How was I going to tell her she was newly orphaned. She didn't deserve anything. She got caught between a situation that she was nowhere near finding out about. With the current pressure I couldn't help but let out a few tears before telling her. She looked at me with worried eyes. That made it harder. I pulled myself together for enough time to tell her about her parents.
Her face went pale in shock. Trying to hold it in, she started to sob. I walked over to pull her into a hug. My heart broke even more for her. I didn't want to make her leave my arms at this time. I knew she felt safe in the moment. The sounds of her crying stopped as she slightly turned her head to look down at the floor.
"Their deaths weren't an accident. I'm sure you figured that out." I said quietly and a bit shaky. She turned her head back into my chest and squeezed a little harder. This would be a great time to tell her the good news that I had as well.
