The Alliance

Five months later
Mary's point of view
I was sitting in James's rocking chair with him on my lap and we were reading a story. "Mommy is grandma going to come visit soon?" He asked "Grandma is going to come visit with grandpa when your little brother or sister is born." I said "Your making it a little brother right?" He asked "I'm trying James." I giggled "You need to try really hard mommy, I can teach him how to play knights." He smiled "Well when the baby first comes our it's going to be very little and gentle so you can't play knights with him or her quite yet." I said "Well how long?" He asked "Around two years." I said "Two years?! I will be five years old!" He said "I'm sorry my love but the baby will be so little." I said "How big is the baby?" He asked putting his hand on my stomach. "The baby is about the size of your teddy bear." I said "Well that's kind of big, it should come out now." He said "It's not big enough to come out right now." I said "Well that's silly." He said "Your telling me." I smiled then kissed her forehead, it was really hot. "James are you feeling okay?" I asked "My tummy hurts a little." He said "Why don't we take a little trip to the infirmary." I said then picked him up. He puked all over me and it went down my corset. "Mommy my everything hurts." He started crying. "Oh it's okay James, Mommy is going to make you feel all better." I said, he laid his head on my shoulder and I walked to the infirmary soaked in puke. Everyone stared at me while I walked to the infirmary. "Hi Nathaniel, James got sick this morning." I said laying James down. "Puking I assume?" He smiled "If you couldn't already tell." I smiled "I have a nightgown you can change him into." He said, then handed me it. "Um I should probably wash him up before I put him in this." I said "There is bath in the next room." He said "Okay thank you." I said then picked James up and brought him in the next room, I took his clothes off and got him washed up then put his night gown on and brought him back to the bed. "The flu is going around the castle." Nathaniel said "He doesn't get sick expect for when we travel." I said "Well He should be okay in the next couple days." He said "Okay, I'm going to go change. I will be right back." I said "Mommy I want daddy." He cried "I know, mommy is going to get some fresh clothes then I will find daddy and we will come right back." I said "Okay Mommy." He said, I kissed his forehead then walked out. I walked past the throne room and Francis and some woman were walking down the hall, she was standing so close to him and he was smiling at her. What the hell! Francis looked over at me and immediately came over to me. "Why are you covered in puke?" He asked "Because while I was taking care of our son he got sick and he is in the infirmary crying for his father but it's fine you stay with your whore." I said then walked past him. "Mary what are talking about?" He asked "Your home wrecker over there." I yelled "Mary you clearly don't know who that is." He said "You know what you asshole, go sleep in your personal chambers or with your mistress because you are not welcome in my bed!" I yelled "Mary baby, I love you, and clearly this is hormones. Because this is not you, I'm going to go see James then we can talk." He said "No do not come talk to me." I said "Mary let me help you change, your covered in puke." He said "Oh no you will not see my naked pregnant body for awhile, and you know what, I don't have anything to work towards to lose the baby weight, so enjoy your fat house wife." I said then walked down the hall, I heard him tell the woman he is sorry about my behavior. My behavior? Seriously? I took a bath and changed into dark purple dress, I did my hair and make up, I put on jewelry. Purposely nothing Francis has ever gave to me. I went back to the infirmary and Francis was cuddled with James. They were both sleeping. I went over and pulled the covers over them. I went out to the hall way and saw that girl from earlier. "Can I help you?" I snapped "Mary, can I call you Mary?" She asked "You May call me your majesty." I said "I would just like to say, for being five months pregnant you look absolutely stunning." She said "Apparently not as stunning as you in my husbands eyes." I said "Okay, I'm Elizabeth, I'm visiting for England and I'm not having an affair with your husband." She said "Wait, Elizabeth Tudor?" I asked "in the flesh." She smiled "Oh my god, I am so sorry." I said "It's all right, I would be suspicious if I was five months pregnant and my husband was with another woman." She said "I don't even know why I thought that, he would never cheat on me." I said "He seems like a really good man." She said "He is, he's to good to me." I smiled "Well your majesty, now that we have made peace, I was wondering if we could talk business." She smiled "What kind of business?" I smiled "Let's take a walk." She smiled, we went out to the gardens. "So, Spain has been turning there military strength towards England and I would like to propose an alliance between Scotland, France, and England." She said "Well Francis's sister, Margot, is married to the king of Spain, we have an alliance with them." I said "Yes I know, but Scotland is facing many enemies, many countries that England has alliances with, if you make an alliance with us I will give up my rights to the English throne." She said "You want to give me your throne, in exchange for peace?" I asked "Yes, if you don't want to take control yet I will name Francis and his heir, James, my heir." She said "Why don't you want England?" I asked "Because my country resents me, while you and I are both strong and powerful women we rule behind close doors, I would like to an ambassador for our countries." She said "I think that is a brilliant idea, did you talk to Francis?" I asked "Yes, he is onboard, we were going to talk to you earlier." She said "He didn't want to say yes until he talked to me, did he?" I smiled "Yes." She smiled "If you don't mind me asking, why won't you marry. I didn't want to be forced into a marriage but Francis and I have a real love." I said "Well I'm trusting your absolute secrecy on this." She said "Of course." I said "I prefer women to men." She said "Oh, I don't judge, love is love." I smiled "Well cousin, I think we have a good friendship devolving." She smiled "So do I. I'm going to talk to Francis, will you please join my husband and I for dinner tonight?" I asked "Of course, good luck." She smiled, I really like elizabeth. I don't like most of my family but I love talking to her. I went to the infirmary and Francis was talking to the doctor. "Is he doing okay?" I asked, Francis and the doctor came over to me and Francis held my hand. "He is going to be fine, like I said earlier it's just the flu." He said "Thank you doctor, can you give us minute alone please?" I asked "Of course." He smiled then walked out. "Francis I'm so sorry." I said "Mary I need you to trust me and I need you to listen to me when I want to explain something, I love you." He said "I love you too." I said "I know it's just the hormones but you need to know I love you and I would never do anything to hurt you." He said "I'm sorry." I said "Don't be sorry baby." He said then hugged me. "Elizabeth talked to me about the alliance, I think we should take it." I said "Wait you didn't call her a whore right?" He smiled "No not this time." I smiled "We can talk about it later, I just want to make sure James is okay." He said "Me too." I smiled.
