Chapter 4: A Name?

Lewis’s POV

With Hannah eagerly hugging my shoulders I finished off the paperwork that was involved with adopting the border collie. “So have you thought of a name?” the RSPCA worker asked us as I passed over the last of the paper work. I looked over my shoulder at Hannah and she shrugged, “I don’t know yet” she said with a smile. The worker nodded and smiled to himself, “She is a fine dog, a little shy but has improved a lot since I first seen her, she was a shivering wreck, poor soul, I still can’t understand how someone would just abandon her out in the rain”. Hannah’s smile faded, “They just abandoned her” she questioned her blue eye, shining with tears, I took hand in mine and squeezed it tight, “Don’t worry Hannah, she has us now” I kissed her cheek and she smiled. 

The worker shifted uncomfortably in his chair then rose up “Okay then, I will go get her and you can be off”  then walked through the back.

I stood up and rubbed the back of my neck, “I still can’t believe you convinced me into getting a dog”. Hannah just grinned and pushed her hair behind her ear, “You will grow to love her, I promise”

The worker finally brought out the collie on a slip lead, she really was a pretty dog. One ear stood up on end while the other flopped down, she had one blue and one brown eye, very unique, that’s probably why Hannah chose her. She had a fairy fluffy coat which was a mix of light grey and white, with tan patches and black spots. I couldn't help but smile.

Dog’s POV

Dylan led me out to Hannah and Lewis on the lead, he hadn’t stopped talking about how amazing it was that I was going to the Yogscast’s Dog from the kennel to the reception where my new owners stood. It was so exciting, someone who wanted me. Hannah got down on her knees again and stroked me from head to tail, she giggled when I lifted my paw to paw her leg. “Aww look Lewis she knows tricks” she said in glee taking my lead from Dylan. 

I looked round at Dylan and could see he was getting a bit emotional so I sat at his feet and he gave me one last hug, “You be a good girl and I’m sure I will see you on here” he held his phone in his hand and I barked and wagged my tail.

Hannah gave a little tug on my lead pulling me to her as Lewis shook Dylan’s hand, “Thanks a lot”

Hannah walked me to their car that sat alone in the quiet car part. “Pop her in the boot and we will got to PetAtHome to get some last minute things” Lewis said as he jumped into the drivers side. I looked up to Hannah as she led me to the passengers seat and not the boot. “Hannah put her in the boot” Lewis said again. “I’m not putting her in the boot she can sit at my feet” Hannah said with a smile as she got into the car then coxed me in at her feet. Lewis sighed knowing he was fighting a losing battle, he pushed the car into gear and drove out the car park.

Hannah’s POV

Our new addition sat at my feet with her head on my knee, she truly was one of a kind. I stroked her head as Lewis drove to the pet shop. We had already picked up a bed and food but we wanted to get the lead, collar and toys once we got her. “So what about a name?” Lewis finally spoke looking down at her briefly. “What about Bonnie?” I answered with a grin. “Bonnie, as in Red Dead Redemption Bonnie” Lewis said with a laugh, “You and your game references”. I nudged his side with my elbow, “So what do you think?” I asked. He looked at me and smiled, “Sure”

Bonnie’s POV

“Bonnie I like it” I thought wagging my tail as Hannah continued to stroke my head, it was great to have a name. We soon arrived and Hannah led me out the car and into the huge pet shop. Hannah looked at me and began to rambled through all the things she wanted to buy me, the joy in her voice made me even more excited. Walking into the store, I was bombarded by a variety of smells, and sounds. Cocking my head I listened to the noise of small mammals chatting away and other dogs barking. Hannah laughed at my reaction as she led me into one of the many aisles, collars and leads covered the shelves. “Lewis can you hold her?” Hannah asked passing my temporal lead to him. He took it and I went and sat at his feet which Hannah giggled at, “She must think your the boss”. Lewis couldn't help but laugh and look down at me.

Hannah went from shelf to shelf looking for the perfect collar then she finally came back with a brown and mint green collar with brown owls patterned around it. “Perfect!” she said adjusting the collar to fit my neck. I looked up at Lewis who just rolled his eyes, personally I loved it.

After gathering a bunch of toys of all kinds, including a owl stuffed toy, and a green lead we finally made our way back to the car. A light jingling of my newly embroidered dog tag could be heard as I jumped into the car;

“Bonnie Yogscast”

“I am Chipped”

I have never been so happy in my life.
