22. "I can't."

"For God's sake, Justin! Swallow the damn pill!" mommy groaned.

"I can't!" I whined.

"Ugh, Gracie can you please demonstrate how to swallow a pill 'cause this is just ridiculous." mommy looked at Gracie.

"Um, ok..." Gracie hesitated but grabbed a pill from the bottle.

She placed the pill on the back of her throat and pour the water.

She spit the pil out causing water to go everywhere.

"Shit! That was harder than I thought!" she coughed.

"Oh no! Gracie!" I screeched, placing my ips on hers to give her mouth to mouth.

Her eyes widened and I pulled away, grinning.

"Yay! You're alive!" I cheered.

"Um, yeah..." she trailed of.

Mommy laughed. "Why don't we just continue this lesson tomorrow...?"

I nodded and mommy walked out of the bathroom, leaving me and Gracie alone-which I really didn't mind

"Um, I gotta go visit Nick." she cleared her throat and walked away.

Tears clouded my vision as I heard the front door close.

I whimpered.

She left me.

As I entered the hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about that 'kiss.'

His lips were so soft as they brushed against mine. I know I already said that I was falling for him but I can't help but think of the negatives. Like how he thinks he's 6.

Just saying, that's a major turn off.

"Hey Gracie, guess what?!" Nick was basically jumping on his bed, but his leg was holding him back.

It was still hanging from the ceiling.

"What?" I chuckled.

Seeing him happy and smiling made me happy.

When he smiles, I smile.

When he cries, I cry.

When he wants to beat someone's ass, I'll happily join in.

"They're letting me out today! Once they get this cast thingy off, I'm good to go! Mom's already signing the papers!" he informed and I let out a breathy laugh.

"Nick! That's awesome! Who's driving you home?" I questioned.

"Wow, what a great way to ruin the moment." he rolled his eyes and I giggled. "And you since mom has to go to work."

"And who says I'm not busy?" I raised an eyebrow even though I had nothing to do anyway.

"Your brother does and so does mom." he sassed and I laughed at his tone.

"Ok, ok." I held up my hands in surrender.

"Sass master." I mumbled under my breath.

"Hey! I heard that!" he snapped and I held in my laugh as he snapped his fingers.

The door opened and a nurse came in.

"Hi! I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I just came in to change his cast so he can leave." she informed and I smiled.

"Nah, you're good."

She nodded and took Nick's leg out of the sling.

"What color, sweetie?" she questioned and as Nick spoke, I mouthed the same thing at the same time with an eye roll.

"Light blue."

As always.

Nick stuck his tongue out at me as he realized what I was doing.

I shrugged and smiled at him.

I seriously do love my brother.
