26. "I-I tell you."

(Gracie Adams)

The doctor came into the room with a small smile.

"I have good news and bad news." he informed and the smile that grew on my face vanished.

"Uhm, good news first." Pattie spoke up.

"Good news is that there seems to be no broken bones or any major injuries." he stated. "Bad news is that he has to tell us what happened."

My eyes widened. Oh no, this isn't good. How are we going to get Justin to tell us what happened if the only words he's said so far are mommy, Gracie, and it hurts. This isn't going to end well.

"Uh, alright. Can you please give us a minute to..." I trailed off and glanced at Justin.

He got the hint and quickly nodded. "Of course."

He left and I began to talk.

"Justin, uh, do you remember what happened to you?" I questioned cautiously.

He nodded.

"Can you tell me what happened?" I inquired.

He shook his head.

I sighed.

"Honey, you have to. They want to know what happened to you. I want to know what happened to you." I grabbed both his hands in mine.

"I-I tell you." he looked into my eyes. "Only you."

"How 'bout mommy?" I questioned.

"Later." he mumbled and I shot Pattie a sympathetic look.

"It's ok." she replied and walked out the door.

I felt so bad but anything to get Justin to talk, I guess.

"I-I was going to the hospital to see you, even though mommy told me not to! And-and this scary guy asked me for money but I don't have none. Mommy doesn't let me. I told him that but he-he didn't wanna listen and started giving me boo boos. I t-tried calling you but you weren't there Gracie, you weren't there!" he started sobbing near the end and I got a little teary eyed.

He wrapped his arms around my neck and I slipped mine under his arms. He cried into my neck as I snuggled onto his shoulder.

I kissed his shoulder gently. His body shook as he sobbed loudly.

"Shh, it's ok baby." I whispered. "I'm here."

His shaking intensified and I sighed. Whoever this 'scary guy' is, he's going to pay.

His cries stopped and he pulled away slightly, his eyes red and puffy as they stared into mine.

"B-babe...?" he whispered and my heart fluttered at his cuteness.

Wait, did he just say babe?

"Yeah." I breathed out.

"I-I wuv you. For reals this time." he mumbled and I laughed breathlessly.

"Do you even know what-"

"Yes. Mommy explained it and I feel it with you Gracie. I-I feels the butterflies in my tummy and sparks when we touch." he explained and my eyes widened.

No, he can't seriously be...

"Uh, uhm..." I stood up quickly, my cheeks heating up. "Why don't you tell mommy what happened? I'll be outside, call me if you need me."

He nodded, looking straight at me. I avoided his gaze and walked out.

"Justin wants you." I mumbled to Pattie and passed her before she could talk.

The door closed, leaving me alone in the hallway with my own thoughts.

Justin loves me?
