the rest of the week dragged on, until friday. friday i woke at 6 am, showered, washed and dried my hair, straightened it with great precision and opened my wardrobe to decide on an outfit. matty has told me they were an alternative band with indie and rock mixed in. great. i pulled out a Burgundy bardot top and high waisted ripped black jeans. perfect. for shoes i chose my old school black vans. my makeup i kept simple, foundation, contour, false lashes and brows. my long black hair sat slick down my back. i looked at myself in the mirror
"wow you look good gracey" kian chimed from behind me, i smiled on cloud nine
"thankyou ki!"
"have fun tonight yeah, and get home safe"
i giggled at his dad like words
"yes father"
"go on, have fun. lia's outside"
running down the stairs i met my best friend at the bottom
"wow"
"wow"
we both looked good! hell we both looked AMAZING.
"let's get the alcohol baby" i sang to her
stopping off at the corner shop i bought vodka, coke and bottle of wine.
"he loves you"
"the corner shop man? hell yeah" i giggled handing her the wine and taking a long sip of vodka. my throat burned so i washed it down with coke.
"let's go"
they were performing in the pub about 20 minutes away, we decided to walk. taking our time to drink our alcohol and in the process ending up very tipsy. bordering drunk. giggling we stumbled into the pub. there was already a crowd. mostly old men, but a gaggle of thin, really pretty blonde girls. george saw us and waved us over
"hhhiui guys" i slurred, lia already had her arm round george nuzzling into him. matty was nowhere to be seen at this point. i decided not to care.
"rosssyyy, adam, georgie" i started
"i'm proud of you boyyyyyzzzzz" they laughed heartily
"let's get you stood over there" ross said. he took me and lia and stood us right at the front.
"where's matty?" i slurred. they all looked anxiously at eachother.
"WHAT?" i said
"wHAT?" i repeated myself
"he's um he's with his ex in the bathroom gracey" george told me
"oh" i said as lia our her arms round me
"it's okay, we never were going to be anything. i've barley known him a week. huh actually a week today" everyone looked at me nervously
"go! play! i'm still proud of you all" i said just as matty emerged from the bathroom. sweaty and with a pretty blonde girl behind him.
i turned to george
"georgie? is that gabby?" he nodded his head not meeting me in the eye
"we will talk after, look after her le" she smiled at him
"break a leg G" he beamed back kissing her softly on the lips.
"he like youuu" i sang to lia
"hush baby" she comforted me as the lights dipped a little and matty said
"hi everyone we are the band without a definite name but here we go"
for the next hour the played a variety of songs, all beautiful i might add. i just couldn't get the thought that me and matty were never going to be anything out of my head. i thought he liked me. i really did.

the lights came back up and the boys started to pack their things up. loading them into a van outside that ross drove.
"wanna lift?" adam asked
"that's okay i'll be okay" i replied
"i'm going with george grace"
"have fun baby"
and i was left alone with matty. he wouldn't meet me in the eye. i turned on my heel and headed out of the pub car park. headed home.

"grace! grace! please wait" matty yelled from behind me. the drunkness was started to wear off now and i just wanted to be home.
"leave me please matty"
"grace i'm sorry" i sighed, i didn't want to do this. i'd had my heart broken. not again.
"it's fine, we barley know each other. infact we have only known eachother a week. you still like her,, it's fine"
he looked at me exhausted
"i-"
"it's okay matty"
i started walking again, faster this time. he didn't follow
