I : School Club

Summer vacation is finally over therefore classes begins today. It is my first day here in Northville High School. Since my previous school doesn't have a Senior High School I need to transfer to other school. I don't feel any excitement since yesterday, for me, this is just a normal day. An ordinary day. Nothing special. Nothing to look forward to. As I paved my way to the gate of our school, I can see from here that there are lot of club stalls inside and then there are students from those club who are approaching the coming students. Probably they are recruiting a new member to join their club.

When I finally entered the gate, a young girl with a specs approached me. Based on her appearance she's 18 years old, 5'4 in height, has a long hair that reached her waist and she is from the Journalism Club (based sa sash na suot nya).

"Good morning miss!" she greeted cheerfully that is why I force a smile to her.

"You're probably wondering kung bakit  kinakausap kita ngayon but I am here to help you in choosing the right club that you will going to join. By the way my name is Victoria Macalintal, a senior high school student like you and I am the president of the Journalism Club" she extend her hand as a sign of shake hands that is why I do so baka masabihan pa kasi akong snob or masungit na tao.

"I believe that all of us are writers, we all have talent in writing. If you're going to join our club, siguradong mahahasa ang kakayahan mo bilang isang manunulat dahil bago namin kayo isabak ay dadaan muna kayo sa training. Of course hindi mawawala ang mga competition with other schools" she added.

Pasok sa kaliwang tenga labas sa kabila ang mga sinasabi niya. Wala ako sa mood para makinig akala ko nga ay napaaga na ang class discussion para sa araw na ito. Wala rin kasi akong interes na sumali sa mga club, para saan pa? It's not mandatory anyway. Hindi ko naman kailangan ng extra curricular dahil hindi naman ako humahabol sa honors. Isa pa, imbes na magpahinga nalang ako sa bahay kakailanganin ko pang mag stay dito sa school after class para magampanan ko ang role ko bilang isang club member.

"Writing for our school is a great privilege as a student. I hope what I said is enough to persuade you to join our club. You can come in our clubroom during free time. Thank you miss and remember that you're always welcome in our club. Thanks for your time. I'll wait for your application form!" she handed me a paper which contains all the basic information about their club then she left and approached the two students nearby.

Tinignan ko ng ilang segundo ang papel na ibinigay niya sa akin. I heaved a sigh then walked towards the senior high school building pero bago pa ako tuluyang makapunta doon ay nilapitan na naman ako ng mga nagrerecruit na students from different clubs. Halos thirty minutes din akong kinuyog ng mga students na 'yun. Ngayon ay nasa tapat na ako ng aming classroom sa second floor. Pagbukas ko ng pinto ay bumantad sa akin ang mga bagong mukha na makakasama ko ng dalawang taon. Nakayuko akong pumasok at naglakad papunta sa upuan na nais ko. Napili kong maupo sa upuan sa may likod katabi ng bintana.

The ambiance inside the classroom is awkward, no one dared to speak. They  are just sitting quietly while tapping their phones. Ano pa nga bang aasahan ko? It's first day of class malamang ay maninibago talaga kami sa isa't isa lalo na't hindi kami magkakakilala. Itinuon ko na lamang ang atensyon ko sa mga hawak kong papel. Inilatag ko ang mga iyon sa mesa at halos hindi magkasya ang mga ito dahil sa dami.

"Hinarangan karin ba nila sa may gate?" biglang sabi ng isang babae na naupo sa katabing upuan ko. Muntikan na akong mapasigaw dahil sa ginawa niyang iyon.

"Yes" simpleng tugon ko sabay tingin sa kaniya na kasalukuyang inaayos ang uniform niyang mukhang nagusot.

"Don't be surprised, they always do that kind of stuff during first day of class, normal lang 'yun" nakangiti niyang sabi sa akin.
