"I always feel like death is after me whenever you're around. My life is constantly threatened. I-I can't live like that.

She said in a shaky voice, rue evident in every bit of syllable. Words of despair strangle her throat, jabbing here and there, making it hard for air to pass through. A certain kind of feeling was clinging onto the tip of her tongue, waiting to be unleashed to the person before her. However, she resists, clenching her jaw closed.

She looked into his destructive yet ever so beautiful dark orbs. The Galaxies that once dominated over his black irises, that once made her believe in the impossible, that she adored the most, were nowhere to be found. It shattered her. She lost strength as she sunk deep into a void of nothingess in his eyes; she wanders into the empty ocean.

"But. . . I promised to protect you and I intend to keep that promise no matter what the circumstances. Don't you trust me?"

He held her brittle palm in the most painstaking way he could, delicate as ever. He stroke his fingers on her face, as if he was leaving marks on her skin like a map. His eyes move along to the motion of his hand.

And when their tired eyes found each other, agony and hope leakead out from the corners. As they locked gazes, they knew the warmth of the sun was nothing like the burning desires their bodies and minds had in the time being. The moment was indeed surreal but bitter as the reality.

For a moment, their hearts beat as one like the ticking of a clock, a synchronized pulsation of two creatures. The universe seemed to have listened to their endless cries. It was as if the stars have aligned. The world ceased for a moment. A total eclipse of two people from different worlds.

And in a blink of an eye, every bit of majestic feelings vanished into the depths of despondency-isolation. Nothing made sense anymore. Everything was a blur.

Thoughts had startlingly casted shadows in her head like how the night sky does every sunset. She drew back her hand and hid it behind her. She avoided his eyes. She swallowed her lips. She spun around and started to stride away from him without a single word.

And he stood there, motionless and mystified. His hand still in the air, waiting for hers to return and land on his. He fixated his eyes on her figure as it slowly fades from a distance, watching his world walk away. He had to fight with his strong urge to run after her for he knew nothing will ever make her stay; not even for him.

Because who would even want to be with a monster?
