"Damn, I should've walked you home. B-but were you able to recognize the voice?" Jaehyun asked as he and I were unloading boxes and bags from his car. I carried two bags and one box whilst Jaehyun was holding the biggest and heaviest box. "Nuh, uh. I've never heard that voice anywhere. But his eyes though—" I paused, recalling those flaming irises. "His eyes looked familiar."

"Well, that normally happens." He replied. "But I swear, Jaehyun. His eyes were kind of. . . familiar. I know I've seen them somewhere but I just can't put my finger to it."

Jaehyun pursed his lips into a thin line and remained silent. "Maybe a celebrity's eyes?" He said out of the blue.

"Holy—Maybe. Maybe." We continued to stride forward. Both of us do charity work. We regularly volunteer here on days where we are needed and on days when we want to. Today, Jaehyun and I decided to give the kids books to read. We bought children's book on our way here.

He suggested that we should give them free books because he believes knowledge starts by reading books. He wants the children to have a vast imagination and to think beyond what their world offers. I agree with him.

I planned to give the kids art. Something they will remember and cherish until they grow up. I am not yet ready. I still have to collect a couple of resources and fund because making art works will cost me a bit.

"I like your shirt today, Jae." I said, teasingly grinned at him. "I got it for six dollars online. Can you believe it?" I squint my eyes at him and snorted. "For the love of god, why are you such a skimp-er. You're rich as fuck. I don't get why you have you cut your budget for nice stuff."

"And I like your pants. Really shows your skinny legs." He piped in, disgustingly looking at me. "I bet you bought that for one grand." He scoffed.

I was wearing a red-white sleeveless checkered top, with a little ruffle on the hemline, under a black over-sized blazer. I paired it with a black high-waisted pants and a pair of white sneakers. But none of these costed too much. I thrifted some and bought some online.

Jaehyun halted from moving and his eyes widened. "Shit I forgot my phone. It's in the car. You go ahead. I'll catch up." Jaehyun struggled to carry the box back all the way where we parked. I chuckle at the sight of him.

I hurriedly perambulate in the pathway heading the orphanage. I was busy being mesmerized by nature. The oak trees were shading over on both sides of the road with antique-style houses. The rays of the sun made it through the spaces of the leaves, leaving lambent glows on the ground. The road there was peaceful. Not much crowd nor cars. The people who live there are mostly the old ones in the city. Since they dislike the pollution and noise there, they can live here where it's sedate and mother-earth oriented.

"Hey, miss!"

I looked over to where the voice came from: the corner to where the dark alleyway I was trapped in. The man who called me out was the same man whom I rescued that day. I widely smiled in belief and he came to my direction whilst waving his wrinkly hand. We both bowed each other as a formal greeting.
