Chapter 69: This is my husband, Lu Yifeng

Xia Meilin stared at him for a while after hearing his words.

Divorce Lu Yifeng?

She loved Feng Ning, she really do, but... "I'm sorry, Ning-ge. I just want to let you know my feelings for you for the last time... because this is where I will end it."

Xia Meilin held his hand and put it away. "Even if I love you, I still love my family more. I will not run away with you. I will not divorce my husband because of my feelings for you."

Feng Ning felt the heavens falling on his shoulders when he heard her words. "W-What are you saying? Didn't you say that you love me? So why do you still want to be with a man you don't even love? You're lying... Stop lying to me, Meilin!"

Even if her eyes were blurry, she wiped her own tears away and looked at him straight in his eyes. "Am I?"

Her nose never twitched and because of that, Feng Ning was able to tell that she was really saying the truth.

"I love you... but I want to end this feeling because it's wrong... It is wrong to love another man when I already have a man waiting for me at home. I am admitting my feelings for you since I want to let you know that I have loved you once. I am letting this feeling go now. I am married, Ning-ge. I know that it will be hard for us to stop our feelings for each other but let's do this. My family is more important than you. I love them more than you, so I can't be with you."

Xia Meilin already made up her mind last night. She knew that she has already started opening up to Lu Yifeng, if not, why would she allow him to kiss her? She knew that Lu Yifeng has feelings for her and by allowing him to kiss her, she was giving him hope, hope that they can still be together.

Xia Meilin already told Lu Yifeng the other night that, she would not close her heart to him, that she would give him a chance... but if Feng Ning was going to be in between them, how can she give him a chance? She needed to give her feelings for Feng Ning a closure.

The man she married is Lu Yifeng. She wanted Little Melon to have one happy family and because of her son, she was willing to sacrifice even her own love for him. Xia Meilin was willing to make his dream come true. She would do anything for her son... that's why she has given Lu Yifeng a chance. She wanted to have a real relationship with him.

She could see all the efforts Lu Yifeng gave for her and their son. What touched her above all else was the way he treated Little Melon. Just like her, Lu Yifeng was trying to give Little Melon a happy family.

Xia Meilin's words were always straight to the point whenever she tried to explain things. She still knew how to differentiate the right from wrong. Because of that, her words were always like a sword for others. "I hope that you will respect my decision. It's better if... we don't meet each other. I don't want my husband to misunderstand. Since I am now a married woman, I can only grow feelings for my husband."

If this was happening a few weeks ago where Xia Meilin was still hating Lu Yifeng so much, she would definitely take up Feng Ning's offer and leave everything for him, she might even try to deceive Little Melon and force him to see that Feng Ning was better than Lu Yifeng... but after learning more about Lu Yifeng, she found out that he was actually a good guy. He was always so kind to her, he was treating her well, so how could she repay him by leaving him? How could she repay him by faking the words that she told him?

Feng Ning wanted to say something but the words he was about to say were stopped when he realized that a tall figure was standing behind Xia Meilin. The man was wearing black business attire and he was glaring coldly at him.

Lu Yifeng's majestic presence was something that sent shivers to everyone's spines, making them break into a cold sweat.

"Meilin."

Hearing the cold and deep voice, Xia Meilin instantly turned her head to him. What was he doing here?!

She hurriedly stood up. With Lu Yifeng's presence, it made her feel guilty since she still went to see Feng Ning without telling him, without asking for his permission...

She went to his side and held his arm. Xia Meilin didn't want Lu Yifeng to misunderstand things so she casually turned to Feng Ning. "This is my husband, Lu Yifeng."

Who wouldn't know that name? Every businessman in the country, even in some parts of the world knew the name 'Lu Yifeng'! Although his face was rarely seen in social media, but because his twin brother, Lu Xian Yu was famous, everyone was given an idea of how Lu Yifeng may look.

Though now that Lu Yifeng was there, he was different from Lu Xian Yu even if they were twins! Lu Xian Yu was like a wild wolf while Lu Yifeng was like a majestic and royal lion!

"Yifeng, this is my childhood friend, Feng Ning." She introduced them to each other.

Although Lu Yifeng was burning in fury, it subsided when Xia Meilin introduced him as her husband since that was one way of letting them know their positions in her life.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Mr. Feng." With the iciness in his voice, Xia Meilin knew that Lu Yifeng was still mad.

With this said the food they ordered just arrive in time.

"Do... do you want to join us, Mr. Lu?" Feng Ning tried his best to give out a calm smile.

"Yes, you should join us." Without waiting for Lu Yifeng's reply, Xia Meilin pulled him and allowed him to sit beside her.

Under the table, Xia Meilin placed her hand on top of his, as if trying to calm him down.

Lu Yifeng was touched by her sweet gesture. He actually heard the last words she said, that's why he didn't go all out and punch Feng Ning earlier.

She didn't want him to misunderstand... She could only grow feelings for him. These words were something that warmed his heart. With that, Lu Yifeng ignored Feng Ning's presence, as if he was not there in the first place.

It was quiet as they started eating. Lu Yifeng was placing some food on Xia Meilin's plate while Xia Meilin accepted it.

One wrong move, Xia Meilin was afraid that Lu Yifeng would explode and would try to hit Feng Ning so she decided to behave.

Feng Ning couldn't tolerate the sweet actions of the couple in front of him. His heart was being torn to pieces when he saw them like this.

With that, he took out his phone, acting like he received a message. He pressed a few keys before he kept his phone and looked at them. "I need to go. My assistant needs my help with something."

"Oh, okay. Take care on your way back, Ning-gege." Xia Meilin didn't stop him. She didn't want him to stay longer as well since her heart was being wrung in pain when she saw the look in his eyes. She couldn't bear to see the hurt in the eyes of the man she once loved... but she already made up her mind. She has to let him go. That was her purpose in the first place. She wanted to end things with him after they have their lunch but who would have thought that things would happen earlier than expected?
