CHAPTER FORTY
TO FIGHT LIKE A HERO

[ AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR ]

Antares hesitated first a moment as she looked from the group of heroes leaving towards the exit of the palace then turning around to Loki who held a hard expression. She sighed, knowing that whatever Loki had wanted to tell her was going to have to wait and the two followed everyone, making their way down towards the vast Greenland were the area of impact for Thanos' men was found. Everyone having suited up with Bruce in the Hulkbuster - which Tony liked to call Veronica. While Loki reluctantly wore a ear piece to communicat with everyone but seeming content with the new weapons given to him from T'Challa.

Steve, Natasha and T'Challa all walked ahead towards the end of the dome to speak with Thanos' followers, them hearing everything through the ear pieces.

"Where's your other friend?" Natasha asked, amusement evident in her tone.

"You will pay for his life with yours." Came a faint reply. "Thanos will have that stone."

"That's not gonna happen." Steve shot back.

"You are in Wakanda now. Thanos will have nothing but dust and blood." T'Challa spoke, his voice holding power of a true born king.

"We have blood to spare." She raised her arm, the ship opening up to reveal millions of monsterous creatures.

"Dramatic, isn't she?" Antares sighed as the three came back to join the rest of their army.

They watched as the monsters tried to enter the dome, when they did try, it cut them in half killing them all. Antares was sick at the sight of it, worry filling her heart and mind. "They're killing themselves." Okoye said in surprised disgust.

Antares watched with even more worry as she watched them run around the dome, Bruce voicing her worry. "Cap, if these things circle the perimeter and get in behind us, there is nothing between them and vision."

"Then we better keep them in front of us." Steve replied.

"How do we do that?" Okoye asked her king.

"We open the barrier." He answered, reluctantly. Antares could tell that he was reluctant without looking into his mind. Opening the barrier was suicide for him and his people. "On my signal open the barrier at section seventeen."

"This will be the end of Wakanda." Okoye breathed out, disbelief in her eyes as she questioned her king's thought, however she would always stand by him.

"Then it will be the nobleist ending in history." Came his reply.

The king stepped forward in front of his men before he brought his arms into a cross at his chest calling out, "Wakanda forever!" His peaople repeating it before they all ran forwards calling out in a battle cry.

Antares followed near the front with her other team members. Loki not to far behind her, never leaving her side. She ran beside Natasha, the girl turning her head and giving a small nod to her brunette friend. "Go!" She heard T'Challa call and the dome opened up a small section, the monsters pulling through.

Antares took to the sky hovering ahead and shooting down balls of flames, doing her best to not hit any of her ally's. She was keeping a close eye on the Avengers and Loki, her eyes seeming to be following Bruce as he fumbled about, ready to help him when he needs it but when he did need it, help Came in a form of light shining down from he sky.

The light continued to glow as something emerged from it knocking down enemies in its wake, Antares floating to the ground by Loki's side as they watched, one thought running through their head but only Antares voiced it, "Thor!" Then the light vanished showing him with a new eye, axe and two new friends that Antares knew all too well.

"You guys are so screwed!" Bruce called out in a laugh.

"Bring me Thanos!" Thor yelled running after the monsters and defeating them in his wake.

Antares quickly followed into the fight with Loki hot on her heels, the two just wanting to go and see Thor, they wanted to make sure he knew they were alive, he had to know. He can't go thinking that Loki was dead again.

But a large machine made of rotating dangerous looking cogs rose up from the ground and took them by surprise. Antares found herself rising into the air to lift the metal cogs but Wanda beat her to it, Antares sending a small nod to the girl before carrying on.

"Guys we have a vision situation." Falcon called through the coms.

"I got it!" Bruce called.

"On my way." Wanda said but was cut off as the woman of Thanos' children knocked her to the ground Antares quickly dropped to the ground taking line with Nat and Okoye.

"He will die alone, as will you." She spat.

"She's not alone." Nat called with a small smirk. The three woman going against one, the odds hardly seemed fare but it was a do or die situation. And Antares wanted her to die.

With a cry the woman leaped into the air and attacked Nat first but Antares used her power to knock the woman back, having been doing her best this whole time not to lose control again. She will not let the Phoenix Force take over.

"Guys Vision needs back up, now!" Came Bruce's voice.

"Little busy, Bruce." Antares said back using her force to bang the woman into the ground, "Hey Loki, think you can be a hero?"

"On it." He called back.

Antares lost hold on the woman as she somehow got out of her force and knocked her backwards, shocking the brunnette. Natasha quickly taking over and nocking the spear from the woman's hand. Antares rising as her body quickly healed itself.

She looked around and saw the spear, quickly grabbing it, she watched as she pushed Nat to the ground. Using this moment to her advantage, Antares jumped into the air and plunged the spear into the woman's back, piercing through her heart and coming out the other side.

Wanda lifting her body up into the oncoming turning cogs, tearing her body to piecing, her blood going everywhere. The two girls falling to the ground with smiles on their faces as Natasha sat up with a disgusted expression.

"That was gross." She commented.

"Go to Vision." Antares ordered, turning towards Wanda who looked the three women over before nodding and heading off. Antares worked to help the other two up before looking at the damage that had been done to Wankanda.

"This isn't over yet." Okoye said and she headed off back into the fight.

Nat and Antares looked at each other before the blonde shrugged her shoulders and ran off into the fight as well, Antares standing back as she watched the ships leave the ground in retreat.

The worst was yet to come.
