That Saturday, Dad woke me up about seven.

"Lottie, it's about time to get up," he said. I agreed, heading to shower. I got dressed in my typical black skinny jeans, a short sleeve maroon flannel, a black beanie, and my combat boots. My hair was done in two French braids, and I decided I didn't need my bracelets today, even though Emmett was going with us.

Dad knew Emmett already, so when Dad and I were making our plans for today, he suggested Emmett come with us. He agreed, obviously.

After I applied some makeup, I clasped a treble clef necklace around my neck and grabbed a black jacket.

I bounced down the stairs, going to the kitchen where Dad had made breakfast, well eggs and bacon, but it was good enough for me. I got some ice coffee and filled a travel mug in case I didn't finish it before we left.

"Did you tell Emmett?" Dad asked, motioning to my wrists.

"He put two and two together about the scars, and I know I can trust him," I said. "I told him Monday when he was here. He didn't pressure me into it or anything."

"Alright," he said. We finished breakfast in silence, a common occurrence around here. Breakfast usually takes place too early for me to want to socialize. Dad accepts my silence because he wants to keep me around.

A knock on the door had me on my feet in seconds. I walked over, smiling as I opened the door to reveal Emmett in jeans and a hoodie.

"Hey gorgeous," he said.

"Hi," I said, moving to let him in.

"You've met my dad right?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's nice to see you again Chief," he said, nodding politely.

"Please, call me Charlie," Dad said.

Emmett nodded a little as an awkward silence fell over the kitchen.

"Well, we're taking Lottie's Jeep today. Didn't exactly want to drive the cruiser out there," Dad said.

"That's fine," Emmett said. I slid my jacket on and grabbed my coffee cup before handing my keys to my father.

"I'll sit in the back. The front seat has way more leg room," I said, looking at Emmett as I spoke.

"Thanks shortie, I appreciate it," he said, smiling at me.

"Call me shortie again and I'll leave you in Port Angeles," I said, faking like I was angry with him.

"Uh-huh, keep telling yourself that honey," he said, resting his arm across my shoulders. I elbowed his side quickly before ducking away from him.

"Alright you two, let's go," Dad said before small laughs escaped his lips. I smiled brightly. I hadn't heard my Dad laugh in ages.

Emmett and I followed Dad out to my Jeep.

"Wait, my stereo is still at full volume," I said, trying to warn my Dad. He started the Jeep up and we all jumped at the sudden music.

"What-?" Dad asked, turning it down quickly.

"I enjoy my music a little loud," I shrugged. Dad chuckled at me as he began driving.

My CD continued to play in the background, so I closed my eyes, imagining the chords as the songs ran together.

"Lottie, these songs are amazing," Emmett said suddenly, snapping me from my thoughts.

"Hmm, oh, thanks," I said, smiling softly a light blush forming on my cheeks.

"He's right, kid," Dad said. "This really is amazing."

"Thanks," I said again.

My heart warmed knowing that these two very important people in my life, not only supported me, but enjoyed what I do.
