Chapter 40

I stand up getting off of Alex. He was clutching his stomach in pain. I get turned around quickly to see a frantic Luke.

"Are you stupid?!?" He tells "you could of got yourself killed you idiot!"

"I just wanted to make sure you’re okay" I whisper looking down at my hands.

He sighs pulling me into a hug. Running his fingers through my hair as I snuggle into his chest.

"Oh well isn't this jolly!"

I look up at Luke "let me handle this" I whisper to him. Before turning to Alex. "Alex please don't do this"

"Why?" He says cocking his head to the side "because I'm going to kill your little Lukey"

"Hey I'm not little" he complains "I'm actually 6ft something"

"Shut up Luke" I mumble. I hear him mumble a 'sorry'

"Alex..." I trail off, thinking of something to say. "Remember when we were six. We went to the lake"

"Yeah, that was the day I told you I was your best friend" he says smiling a little.

"Keep talking to him" Luke whispers in my ear before walking off sneakily.

"And those kids were bullying me for my fringe being so long. You stood up for me and told them to shut up because there stupid!"

Alex laughs still smiling.

"You told me that's you were never going to hurt me Alex." A tear rolls down my cheek. "Why are you breaking the promise now?"

He shakes his head "I'm not Mikey"

"You are" I tell him "you killing Luke will hurt me. It will tear my heart into two"

Alex scoffs "you don't even love him Michael! I bet you don't know what love is"

I take a step forward "Luke makes me smile every single day. He makes my heart flutter every time he laughs it giggles. When he tells me he loves me I just blush crazily, because the way he says it melts my heart. When he touches me, it brings shivers down my back and gives me goosebumps, the good kind of goosebumps" I grab Alex's hand and places it on my beating heart, it was beating pretty fast "this is what happens whenever I'm around Luke"

I drop his hand "but I love you Michael" he croaks out. It broke my heart a little. But I have to tell him the truth. He doesn't deserve to be in this pain anymore.

"I love you too Alex" I tell him "but not the way you want me too. I'm sorry"

I turn around "goodbye Alex" I whimper out.

He looks at me confused "why are you saying goodbyAHHH!!"

Luke teeth pierce into Alex's neck and rips his head off. There was lots of blood which was bringing me to sickness.

Luke walks up to me and pulls me into a hug "you did so good baby"

I look over his shoulder to see Alex's body on one side while his heads on the other. Realisation just hit me as I lost my best friend. I hide my face in Luke's neck and cry.

He shushes me rubbing his hand up and down my back "shh baby its okay"

"I lost my best friend Luke" I sob "how is everything okay?"

He pulls away and wipes the tears off my face. "It's okay. I love you okay I love you!"

"I love you too Luke" I say back before our lips meet.

With our lips moving together. All I could hear was birds chirping and the wind rustling the leaves on the trees. I run my fingers down Luke's arms and he deepens the kiss. It's like one of those romantic kisses that happens in every romantic movie.

I pull away. Looking into his eyes I gave him a small smile. He smiles back "let's go back to the happy safe family"

That's when my smile drops. Because everything's not okay. He notices my smile going. "Is everything okay?"

I was scared of his reaction so I put a fake smile on "everything's okay"

He starts to walk away but I stay in my spot. How was I supposed to tell him that one of his family members were hurt or.... dead. I don't know the aftermath of what's happened. I hope everything's going to be okay.

"Baby"

I turn my head. "Yeah Luke"

"Are you sure everything's okay"

I shake my head "something's wrong Luke"

He walks up to me, his hands cupping my cheeks. My arms grab his biceps. "What's wrong baby?"

"Luke..." I trail off unable to think of words to say to him.

"Baby your scaring me" he says rubbing small circles on my cheek with his thumb "tell me!"

"Luke someone got hurt" I tell him quickly. I wanted to say it slower but I just said it out quickly.

His hands drop from my body and he takes a step back, shaking his head "no that's not true"

"Luke it is I'm sorry" I reach over and grab one of his hand and clutch it with both of mine.

"Who is it?" Luke asks me, his words are shaky "who's hurt"

I play with his fingers and look up into his blue eyes. "Luke maybe I should just tell you at home" I think it was better for him to sit down when telling him this. I'm scared of his reaction. What if he runs away? What if he shouts at me like he did before?

"Michael" he warns me. Okay guess I'm telling him now.

I take a deep breath "Luke its Ashton" I tell him "Ashton's hurt"
