And so, I take Erevain, Euphemia, Sophie, Lyra, Josie, Sam and Gail with me.
But we were too late.
...
Man, that totally sounded like a cheap cliffhanger. I'm glad that if this was a web novel, the non-existent author wouldn't resort to use it, because they would be cultured enough to be above it.
Yeah. I know that to be true.
Right?
But enough of that, and back to what is in front of me.
Of us.
A mess of a research facility.
Books on the floor, fallen bookshelves, broken glass tables, and worst of all, the groans of the injured....
...!
"Gail, go tend to the injured. If you need help, I could call for Gabrielle."
"M-m, no need. I can do it just fine, Master."
She shakes her head, her buns moving slightly as she does it, and goes where the injured are.
"Sam, help me with them. Mhm?""
"On it."
She also grabs Sam to help move the people who are not already in the area where the rest of the injured are.
Still...what a mess...
To put it simply, and not make a joke about black Friday, it looks as if a storm passed through here.
And not one of mine.
Because we weebs are orderly people, not running, only walking moderately faster.
"Crown Princess and Lady Argento?!! Maid-Knights?! So fast!! But I just sent word...!"
"That does not matter right now, Chief Rugal! Tell us what happened!"
"Y-yes! You see..."
Although it obvious to us what happened, Euphemia still asks the chief researcher here for a report, he is a dwarf and a buffed one at that, but now he is covered in enchanted bandages and has black eye.
He tells us what we already knew, someone stole the Great Founder's Sword, as in the blessed weapon of the chill knight that sealed the emissary under the village he founded and didn't tell Nerinne about it.
Said village would in turn grow into the Kyrie Kingdom, if you don't remember.
"He was a dummy."
Says my darling telepathically, since it is obvious, she stayed in the castle.
I, however, still think we would've gotten along well. This chill knight and me.
But yeah, he mentions that they were looking into the sword's magical activity when one of their coworkers seemingly fainted out of nowhere.
Then another one, then two at the same time, then three on another corner of the facility and so on.
"It all happened so fast...but we were not about to be knocked out that easily!"
He says as he tries to stand proud, but it seems he is hurt on his ribs too, so he leans a bit forward while groaning.
He then tells us that by the third knocked out coworker, they figured out that something was happening and that it was not good. Of course, them being researchers, arcane researchers at that, meant that they weren't brain dead and all agreed that it was an invisible enemy.
