While the Absurd descended through the Dungeon's base floor stairwell and into its first floor, along with her loyal Maid-Knights, plus Sylvie, her fellow Dragon Lord, Viera, and the Tolemacian Protector, Ragna, another of the Maid-Knights stayed behind in Tolemac's Observation Tower.
The Engineer of the Maid-Knights, Patricia.
Once she had volunteered to create the plans to what she thought would be the construction of a city from the ground up. Even more, she had the opportunity to see such plans take life on a live scale thanks to the Absurd. She had everything she would need and want to take on such project.
One could even say that it was the biggest project in her life.
More so in a life where she abandoned such part of herself when she decided to attempt and become a knight to serve in the Swords of Dawn Knight's Order that the Crown Prince of her country led at that time.
It was a different time back then, one where she was just fresh out of the Royal Academy's Postgraduate division, ending just two ranks below the academic title of 'Meister'. A title available to only those who truly commit to their field and never cease to dedicate their time to it, producing results that enrich it. A title that she would have surely reached if she had continued throughout her path as an Engineer given her talent, evidenced by the gargantuan job she took for the Absurd and had delivered in leaps and bounds, even if it was just as an absurd simulation.
Still, it was indeed a different time, where even her name was different along with the face that greeted her when she looked at the mirror.
And times change.
Circumstances change.
People change.
Like her.
From the path of an engineer, to one of a Knight, an exile, a fake bandit, a Maid Knight and then, now...city builder.
What a welcome twist of fate.
And as it is with everything in life, things never go completely as planned, and her objective changed too. From the construction of a city, to the reconstruction of one.
To 'raise' a city, that is what the Goddess said.
To 'heal' a city, is what Patricia's heart desired after seeing it.
Both meant the same, as she felt that was what the Goddess sought too, for it was the Goddess who pointed them in that city's direction.
Tolemac.
And now she had been working in doing that very same thing, in the best way possible, helped no less by a Protector of such place.
Indeed, things changed, but it was still the biggest project in her life.
"I know I've said it when we arrived, but this place is such a boon for someone like me."
Her voice had nothing but gratefulness in it as she looked out the window and towards the city at large before focusing on the plans she was now drawing with the help of various tools. Along with older looking plans extended on a board beside her.
Every trace was measured and deliberate, all to reach what she called an all-encompassing 'flow' in her design, and if something didn't fit, she had no qualms in erasing it and starting again.
"Yeah, I can see that. You have been at it since I brought you here at daybreak. You know...now that I think about it, you were not even a bit surprised when I told you to come with me. Why?"
The Protector who had taken her to the Observation Tower had a more civil tone than the one she had shown before in her interactions with the Absurd. One could even say that this one was her truer personality or just that the Absurd had managed to affect her that much. The latter being the most probable.
