Chapter 60: An average valley and the aftercare NO ONE expected! EVER!

As the Absurd fought against the Guardian of Tolemac and the Dungeon, three maids approached a certain valley in the Kyrie Kingdom's territory. It was a valley like any other. Nothing remarkable could be said about it unless one were to compliment how average it was. Then that would be a correct assertion.

In short, it was just part of the scenery many travelers would see on their journey towards the Capital, Galafad, but would forget of immediately as they kept on their way.

Here there was only the serenity of watching the grass sway by the wind.

"Keeh...it's so peaceful it's boring... There's not even a river near to at least do some fishing..."

"And the beasts are too far from here to hunt and cook..."

The three maids were part of the scouts the Absurd had in her forces, only missing one to be most of them. Sophie, the maid who failed to spy on the Absurd and got 'recruited' by said person. A descendant of one of the original Knights of the Ever-Burning Will and wielder of the Rainbow Sword. Also, the first Magical Girl in Arte. Jules, the only maid who seems to match the Absurd in stomach capacity, talented hunter and the only maid who was capable of truly shocking the Absurd with their own absurdity. Lastly, Luca, the leader of the scouts of the Absurd. One of the first companions the Absurd picked for their small mission in Illumbee Village. Someone whose origin is clouded in mystery even for the one who recruited her in the past, Erevain.

"There are no birds flying by either."

"Hmm...? Maybe...that's...it..."

"What's it?"

"It's...too calm...empty..."

Indeed, the sky Jules looked at was as empty as it could be. Which made Luca realize something about the valley they found themselves in as she explained to Sophie.

"Keh, then it's good we opened a [Door] in the village further down the road and walked here. There's no way this is normal."

They had arrived via [Door] thanks to the ones permanently installed in their base by the Absurd herself. Letting them teleport to any place they had already been before. Only needing a certain special object, a [Key], to open a [Door] for their way back.

"Luca, are you ok maintaining your [Shroud of Deception] on the two of us apart from yourself?"

The maids kept walking around the now suspicious valley, all while covered in Luca's powerful stealth specialized Dark attribute spell. One that not only hid them from detection-based spells and skills by interfering with them, but also fooled the senses of those weaker than them by pushing their attention elsewhere. Making them virtually undetectable.

"Keh! With those Guild bastards no precaution is useless."

"Keep...calm...we are just...preliminary scouting now...Sophie..."

"I know...wait, where's that weird—! I mean, where's Allegra?"

"She is...still...her...lab... No need for...her to be...here... Us three...enough."

"Hm, I've only known you for more or less two months but it's no longer hard to understand you. Your voice is kinda cute too."

Luca decided to end her conversation with Sophie in a rather abrupt manner as she looked at her, shook her head and turned around to look at what Jules had been doing while they talked as they walked around the area. Said Jules had stopped walking and had her ear on the ground while her eyes were closed. She seemed completely focused on such task and Luca wasn't going to interrupt her. So, she decided to give Sophie a signal with her hand, which indicated her to keep circling around the area on her own while she walked towards the center of the valley.
