You were not sure how long the tour would take, but you were very excited. This was the very first time you left your home country and you have never travelled so far from home. You had won this trip when participating in the local lottery in your hometown. You could not believe you had finally won something for the first time in your life. And you could even bring someone along! Ofcourse you had chosen your mother. After the death of your father last year, this trip has been the first fun thing the two of you had been able to do since his passing.
You followed your tour guide, Heidi, down the long hallways of the castle, admiring all the artwork that was displayed all over the walls. Heidi soon led you towards two heavy looking doors. She opened the doors with much ease and you could see many people waiting inside the room already. You were very confused, as all of these people looked absolutely breath taking. You were enchanted by their beauty and felt yourself walking closer towards these beautiful strangers, ignoring your instinct to not trust it and make a run for it. Before you knew it, the heavy doors closed behind you and screams filled the room. You tried to find a way out but was pushed against the wall by a very handsome man, with eyes as black as the night. Fear was spreading through your veins as your heart started racing, knowing it would soon cease to beat. But you were no coward, you would look at the bastard who was about to take your life away like it was nothing. You looked into his black eyes, anger and fear building inside you. You waited and waited but nothing happened. The man in front of you seemed frozen on the spot, his hand still wrapped around your neck. Suddenly his frozen state fell and a small chuckle escaped his lips. "Quite the courageous one you are huh?" his voice was velvet smooth and you shivered as the sound reached your ears. Slowly he leaned forward and placed his ice cold lips against the vein in your neck, feeling your heartbeat and the delicious blood it carried against them. The man used every last bit of restraint to not let his razor sharp teeth sink down and let the delicious ambrosia that is your blood flow through his throat, ceasing the fire that laid within it. But he couldn't. You were his mate, and he would protect you until the end of his days.
"Demetri?" a sweet, male voice came from behind him. "Is everything alright, my boy?" the man asked, confused. Every other vampire in the room was staring at the human and vampire as well, as the quickened heart beat could still be heard by everyone in the room. "More than alright, Master." Demetri said as he slowly turned towards the man, holding out his hand for him to touch. You carefully let your eyes leave Demetri's and focus them onto the man in front of you as he took Demetri's hand in his, seeming to wonder off.
His skin was translucently white, like onionskin, and it looked just as delicate, it stood in shocking contrast to the long black hair that framed his face. You felt a strange, horrifying urge to touch his cheek, to see if it was soft or if it was powdery, like chalk. His eyes were red, the same as the others around him, but the colour was clouded, milky, and left you wondering if it influenced his vision in any way.
"How lovely." The man said as he released Demetri's hand and gave you smile that was supposed to be reassuring, but you knew what those teeth could do to your delicate skin and you flinched away slightly. Demetri's hand found your arm and he gently held onto it, making sure you wheren't going to do something stupid. Your thoughts slowly came back as your heartbeat slowed down slightly and you remembered your mother. You quickly looked around the room, afraid to see her body drained and dead but felt relieved when you saw her in the arms of another man.
The man had black hair to shoulder length, standing 6'0" tall, with an average build and, like the other man in front of you had white skin that was translucent with a papery texture, and his red vampire eyes had an overlying milk film.
"How lovely, mother and daughter both alive and united with their mates. I sure love happy endings." The first man said as he gracefully made his way towards three thrones. "I think we should find a place less crowded to explain everything to our new mates, Demetri." The man holding your mother said. "Yes master Marcus." Demetri said as he gently pulled you along, out of the throne room and into a small office.
Your mother and you took place on the two chairs standing in front of the desk as Marcus and Demetri whispered softly with each other. Your head was spinning and your mother gently grabbed your hand, squeezing it. "I am sure the two of you have a lot of questions, and we fully understand this must be a lot to take in. Therefore, my apologies for adding even more information right now." Marcus started, his eyes never leaving your mother's face. "We are vampires. And every vampire in the world has a mate. The one person they are destined to be with forever. You two are our mates." Marcus started to explain. "For now, we will let the two of you get adjusted to your new home, but you will soon be changed into vampires. Our laws are very simple, no human is to know about vampires, therefore your change will be inevitable." Marcus continued to explain. "Demetri, please show your mate to your room. I am sure she will need some rest after all that has happened today." Demetri nodded his head and gently helped you up, but you could no longer stand. Your knees gave away and you fell down, only to be caught in Demetri's arms. "Don't worry, cara. I got you. I will never let you fall again." He whispered softly before rushing to his room, taking care of you from that day on until the end of times.
