Y/N's POV
Dowoon and I walked into the restaurant and saw Jae already sitting down, and pretty much everyone else barely arriving, so we weren't too late.
We walked over to the table and said our hellos and sat down. Soojin came over and took our orders and we all sat back and relaxed, like any normal day.
"Let's address the elephant in the room," Sungjin said. "Christmas."
"So should we pick out names for Secret Santa already, while we wait for our food to come?" Wonpil asked.
"Well we need something to write with, and something to write on, for that being," I said.
Younghyun quickly stood up and walked over to the front counter and came back with a pen and a pad of paper, throwing a small wink in my direction.
"So that's covered," Jae said. "Now let's just actually do this thing."
Sungjin tore off a piece of paper from the notepad and tore it into six smaller pieces. "All of us are going to do this, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, just write the names on the paper." Jae responded.
"So this is for the 24th, right?" Wonpil asked.
"No, the 25th." Dowoon answered. "I can't do Christmas Eve."
"Okay, but like, the 25th as in we stay up until midnight and then party together? Or we like go to sleep, and then wake up Christmas Day and hang out?" Jae turned his head and looked at us, searching for an answer.
"I mean, I don't know about you, but I enjoy my rest, and I would prefer that if were to spend a whole day with you guys, I'd have gotten some sleep beforehand." Sungjin said, folding up all the torn up papers. "K, can you get something to put these papers in?"
Younghyun stood up once again, this time leaving to the back door with the label that read "Employees Only," and returned quickly with a cup.
"Alright, let's do this." Younghyun said, placing the cup down on the table.
"So everyone picks once, unless somehow you picked yourself, then you pick again." Sungjin put the cup in the middle of the table.
"Um.. how are we deciding who picks first?" Dowoon asked.
Younghyun gestured towards me. "Ladies first."
I smiled to him, and reached my hand out to grab a paper. I grabbed the small crumpled ball and exhaled. I opened it to reveal the name.
sungjin
That's not bad right? This shouldn't be too bad. I think? What does Sungjin like? What would he like for a gift?
I put my paper in my pocket and nodded. "Okay, I'm done."
"Next?" Jae said.
"Me," Younghyun said, reaching for the cup. Before anyone could protest, he had already opened the paper and put it in his pocket.
"I CALL NEXT," Jae said, "before any of you decide to pull something like that, I am." He grabbed the cup off the table, shook it, and grabbed a paper. "Nice" he said. "No better Secret Santa than yourself, am I right?" He said, revealing the paper to say his name.
We all slightly groaned, but Jae then put the paper back in and picked another one. He put the paper in his pocket and then sat back in his chair.
"Would anyone like to go next?" Wonpil asked. Dowoon and Sungjin both gestured for him to go, so he grabbed a paper and opened very quietly and to himself. He was quicker than everyone else too.
"Dowoon, you go ahead and pick first, I'll take the last one," Sungjin said.
"Okay." Dowoon shrugged. He grabbed one of the two remaining papers, leaving Sungjin to take the last one in the cup.
"So then!" Younghyun exclaimed. "It's all settled, everyone has their Secret Santa's, and we'll be having this party the 25th of December!"
"That's it?" Dowoon asked.
"Yes." Jae said. "That is it. There is nothing extreme or excessive about a gift exchange. Just bring the gift and have fun."
"Is there like, a price limit? Like to how much or how little we can spend on a gift?" Wonpil asked.
"Okay, well, let's look at it this way. How much can everyone afford to spend?" Sungjin said.
"I can spend like thirty bucks," Jae said.
Dowoon looked at Sungjin in hesitation. "I could probably do like twenty."
"Why don't we just put it at that then? Minimum $20, and maximum $30." Younghyun said.
"That sounds like a good idea," Wonpil said, and I nodded in agreement.
"Okay, so NOW it's finalized. Are there any more questions?" Sungjin asked.
As the table remained silent, Soojin came and began to serve us our meals.
"Well then," Sungjin smiled softly. "Let's eat."
