This really isn't my best. I lost my interest halfway. So I'm sorry for it not being on level with what I usually post.
Hope you'll enjoy 🙃

Julian's pov:

I descend down the plane's ramp, the rest of the scientists and historians before me. They are excited, some even giddy. This was a major discovery, the chemical who decided the colour of blood.

The leading scientist, Jason Grace, was shaking Mare's hand as a girl ran to him, fast enough the only noticeable thing about her was her brown, uneven hair.

The Queen laughed as he spun her around, her feet in the air. "Piper!" He exclaimed.

Jason and his girlfriend suddenly turned around, both flushed. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty-" he sttuters, as Piper tries to bow.

Mare laughed, and waved him off. "We all need a little inspiration," she winked at Piper.

The two stugger away, leaving us free to continue the round of greetings and handshakes.

Eventually, the pack finished and scattered away. Some were led by smiling servants to temporary rooms in the palace, the rest started wandering in the garden, or walked out to explore the rest of Archeon.

I remained last with the Queen. We exchanged wry smiles before she strode over and embraced me. I chuckled at the informality Mare rendered. Pulling apart, I assessed her.

Her Majesty might not hold a court's mask of regality, yet none could say her appearance isn't fitting for a queen's.

Her gown was red, ending below her knees. It flared at the waist, causing a simple, yet feminine look. Her crown was gold, and shined in the early summer's sunlight. She wore white heels, though I didn't think she enjoyed wearing them much. But she seemed taller. I briefly wondered if it's the heels fault, of Mare indeed got taller.

Despite it all, the appearance didn't seem to weight on her. It didn't make her look old and worn. In fact, she glowed. Her light makeup framed her face gently.

Mare is a good queen. A relatable one. The one my sister could've been, if not for the former Queen Elara.

Mare's pov:

I loop Julian's arm with mine. It's been a while since he visited the palace, though he does visit frequently.

The only person that still does. The rest left. It doesn't hurt as much anymore. My family, old friends, him, are scattered across the continent.

Some at Montfort, some at the Lakelands, and in Norta. They fear I'll come for them. Stupid cowards. I let go of revange, though I won't be thrilled to see their traitorous faces again.

But it hurts me that he'd left. Especially now. That I know the pain he suffered, his own family and friends abandons him. We could've helped each other.

Cal's loss*. I am not going to pursue that bull headed fool. The reason I managed to get those countries together was knowing when to extend someone a second chance. He won't get another chance to get inside my heart.

Despite their wrongness, I didn't ban them from the Hall of Flourish**. Nor Archeon, nor any place I reside.

We make small talk. Julian mostly asks about the two new schools that are in building. The whole matter is complicated. How the students arrive, the costs of transportation and their pick-up stations.

And teachers. Because of the poor studies done at school at young age, a serious problem even when it comes to other subjects, there aren't enough well educated adults.

"I'll see you tomorrow," Julian said. He hugs me, then walks away. I watch his back as he passes through the gates to the city, who are wide open.

I'm still looking out when my assistant calls me for a meeting.

I adjust the crown on my head, then walk into the meeting room.

Show time.

*if someone does you wrong, it's only his/her loss. You don't need them in your life.

**As Mare became the queen, she changed the names of some places, getting rid of the old, stupid ways.

This won't be continued. As much as a MareCal talk will be appealing, I'd rather not. Since there will be no way they wouldn't end up together, I believe Cal shouldn't rule in this universe.

About the next one-shots, I have a new idea I'm really excited about. LL6  will probably be posted soon, and I want to get to the interesting stuff on the AU series.
