You frowned in confusion as you checked the time on your phone – it was almost midnight and Bucky hadn't come to bed yet.

Usually, the two of you would spend the whole day together before going to bed, cuddling as you slowly drifted to sleep. But today was an exception; the whole team had returned from a mission that morning and everybody was busy, either in meetings with Fury or getting injuries checked out. So you hadn't seen much of Bucky.

After a couple more minutes, you decided to find him. First, you checked his old bedroom – the one he stayed in before the two of you were anything more than friends. Sometimes, if he wanted some time alone, that's where he would go. But this time he wasn't there.

Next, you checked the training room, although you were doubtful that he would be in there. Unsurprisingly, you were correct – it was completely empty. Nobody wanted to train straight after a mission.

Just to be sure, you decided to go to Steve's room, thinking that maybe Bucky was talking to him and had lost track of time. However, as you walked past the living room door, you were distracted by hushed whispers and giggles coming from inside.

Curiously, you stepped inside the room to see Nat and Sam standing in a corner, while Peter knelt on the floor with a pile of fridge magnets next to him. And laying on the couch, curled into a ball with his metal arm hanging over the side, was none other than your boyfriend, Bucky Barnes, sleeping peacefully.

"So that's where he was," you murmured, causing everyone's eyes to snap towards you. Peter scrambled to his feet, looking fearfully towards you as he tried (and failed) to hide the magnets.

"Y/N, hi! We were just, uh... showing Mr. Bucky these cool magnets...?" he whispered uncertainly, his voice wavering as he told the obvious lie. You chuckled quietly, trying not to wake Bucky.

"Peter, just because I'm his girlfriend, doesn't mean I'm gonna stop your fun." You ventured further into the room and smirked at your friends. "So, we'll take it in turns to stick the magnets to his arm. Whoever wakes him up is the loser!"

You went first; you knew that Bucky wasn't a particularly heavy sleeper, so you would have to be careful. Slowly, you inched a bright green, circular magnet towards his metal arm, holding your breath as it attached itself with a small clinking noise. Bucky let out a soft sigh, but didn't move.

Triumphantly, you moved aside to let others have their turn. Despite being extremely clumsy, Peter managed it. And obviously, with the precision of a trained assassin, Nat had no trouble at all.

Then it was Sam's turn. Ambitiously, he grabbed two magnets and smirked arrogantly as you muttered "show off."

He leaned over the couch and prepared to gently drop the magnets. However, Bucky suddenly rolled over. You could no longer suppress your giggles as Sam jumped back, hitting his head on the table with a groan.

The sudden outburst caused Bucky to wake up. Obviously startled by the loud noises and the people around him, his eyes widened and he sat up, grumbling something that sounded like "can't get any peace in this damn place."

It took Bucky a second to notice that his arm was a little heavier than usual, but once he saw the fridge magnets, he immediately knew what was going on.

"Assholes," he muttered, shaking his head with a small smile on his face before laying down again. Relieved that he wasn't too angry, everyone laughed once again. Soon after, Peter, Nat and Sam left, leaving you and Bucky alone in the living room.

"Hey," you murmured, reaching for his hand. Sleepily, he grabbed your other hand too and pulled you onto the couch, laughing quietly as you fell on top of him. You didn't bother to move much – you just rested your head in the crook of his neck, sighing happily as your legs tangled with his and he wrapped his arms around your waist.

"Who's idea was it?" Bucky questioned, softly kissing the top of your head.

"Peter's, I think," you replied, "but I was looking for you anyway because you didn't come to bed, so I decided to join in. It was worth it – you should've seen Sam's face after he hit his head on the table."

"Hmm, I can imagine."

The two of you laid in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. Your eyes began to drift closed and you snuggled into Bucky's chest, moving a hand up to absentmindedly fiddle with his hair. He hummed contentedly, also beginning to fall asleep once again.

"I love you, doll," Bucky whispered, hugging you tighter to him.

"I love you too... so much," you replied.

It didn't take long for both of you to fall asleep. And this time, nobody came to wake either of you up.
