Aubrey's POV:

Buzzzz buzzzz buzzzz

"Hey Shay." I smile as I answer the phone

"Hey honey, I just wanted to call and see how you're going."

"Good, really good. I just put Alena down for her sleep."

"Aww, she's such a little angel." Shay gushes "Has she been okay during the nights?"

"Yeah she's fine, like you said, she's an angel."

"Lane and I are heading out to the shop, do you need me to get you anything while I'm out?"

"No, I think we're okay for now, but if I think of anything I'll let you know."

"Is it okay if we pop in after? Even if you don't need anything?"

"Of course it is, you're always welcome here and to see Alena whenever you like, you don't have to ever ask me Shay."

"Oh baby girl, how did I end up with such a wonderful daughter in law." She giggles softly "I'll see you later."

"See you later." I hang up the phone

I've been home for six weeks now and both Alena and I are doing well. Most nights she sleeps right through, but on the odd occasion, she wakes during the night because she needs a feed or she's just un-settled in general but I don't mind getting up to her.

In a strange feeling, but in a way things have become a little easier since I have a little person to worry about and take care of, she needs me and I'm the only thing she has, so somehow I'm keeping it together. I miss Easton terribly and I wish he was here so badly, but he isn't and no matter how hard I wish for him, I'm never going to see him again.

I shake that through from my mind as the doorbell rings and I stand up from the couch and make my way down the hall.

Dressed in some simple sweat pants and a singlet I open the front door to reveal Caleb dressed casually in some jeans and jacket, a smile on his face as usual

"What are you doing here?"

"I just came to see my favourite girl."

"She's upstairs and she's asleep." I smile holding the door open for him, knowing full well he was talking about Alena as his favourite girl.

"Can I hang out for a bit? Wait until she wakes up? Romee and I are going away for the weekend so I'd really like to see her."

"Of course you can stay, you know you're always welcome." I make my way back down the hall and sit back down on the couch, Caleb joining me.

"So uh, how are you? Are you copying?"

"I'm doing okay, I think she's making this easier for me in a strange way. She's so much like him, I don't know why but I feel like I have a part of him back."

"I see how you could feel that way." Caleb nods. "She's a part of him."

Taking a deep breath I fiddle with my fingers. "Ca, do you think maybe I'm just not meant to be happy? That I'm not meant to have love?"

"Of course not, why would you say that?" He asks surprised

"It's just that my parents were taken away, then Claire and now Easton. I'm so scared that something is going to happen to Alena as well."

"Don't think like that Aubs, nothing is going to happen to her, she has the most amazing mother in the world to take care of her."

"I sure couldn't take care of my parents, or Claire or Easton, I hope I don't let her down as well."
