Chapter 38: Blue

(Y/n POV)

"Two of the villain's targets has been discovered! It's two of the students, (Y/n) and Kacchan!" Mandalay's voice rings in our minds once more as we hear, "(Y/n) and Kacchan should avoid combat and acting alone if possible!"

'Me? Why me? And also Bakugou?' I think to myself as I wipe my mouth after spitting out the dirt I tasted and flick my hair back so it doesn't get in the way.

Bakugou immediately charges forward towards the villain in front of us; his arms pumping forward as he runs with full speed. I see that metal protruding from his mouth like branches immediately fly towards him, making me raise up the ground and protect him from the attack. Todoroki also creates a wave of ice to block. Todoroki freezes the area around us as well. I look behind us and see that our retreat path is blocked by the gas, making us enclosed and forced to fight this villain.

I angrily remark at him with my hand still in the swiping motion, "Be more careful! Don't rush in! These are villains!"

"Did you hear that? Seems like you're one of the targets. You as well (Y/n)," Todoroki states sternly, adjusting the person on his back so that he's carrying him properly.

Bakugou says he doesn't care and tries to engage once more, only to be protected by Todoroki and I once more through our quirks. The villain uses his blades extending from his teeth to expertly move across the terrain around us. Todoroki warns Bakugou about using his explosion quirk carefully as to not spread a fire.

The villain continues to try and attack us while groaning about something to do with flesh. I want to be able to control the air but I'm afraid that the wind will risk spreading the blue fire that I saw earlier. I let out a slow breath of air and try to aim for the villain once more by manipulating the ground. He moves away quickly and throws his blade teeth at us, making Todoroki react quickly and cover us with ice once more. Todoroki and Bakugou begin to argue with one another about how to proceed with this fight as we aren't able to get close.

"If I could taste what the blades are like then I could manipulate his quirk," I say while dodging another attack, "It is extremely risky though..."

Before I can do something rash, we all hear a large rustling sound. Suddenly we see something approaching us really quickly; a dark figure running towards us with Midoriya's voice being heard as well. I then see Shoji shout out towards Bakugou and Todoroki to create some light. The villain is quickly stepped on by, what I guess, is Tokoyami's Dark Shadow. I stare in slight amazement from the power that Tokoyami holds. Though he isn't in control of it right now, if he could learn how to control Dark Shadow on that magnitude, he could be one of the most powerful heroes.

"Kacchan!" Midoriya shouts out towards Bakugou on Shoji's back as they both inform them that Tokoyami's quirk has gone out of control.

Before Todoroki can use his flames, Bakugou stops him so that Dark Shadow can completely overpower the villain and defeat him easily. Bakugou and Todoroki quickly after use their quirks to make Dark Shadow dissipate into a weaker state so that Tokoyami can control it once more. Tokoyami thanks us for saving him and explains how he lost control of Dark Shadow.

I walk up to Tokoyami and pat his back gently without saying anything; just kneeling next to him while he explains himself.

Midoriya then grunts out in pain to explain to Tokoyami, "That's right. We discovered that one of the villain's target is Kacchan and (Y/n)."

As they continue to discuss the possibilities on why they possibly want us, I figure the reason out for myself at that moment and say, "It's probably because of my quirk... Knowing what I could do, they probably want my quirk for their own benefit."
