You/Diana Prince - Just A Dream

Summary: You have a bad dream

Ever since you watched your sisters almost die on you, you've been having recurring dreams of all your loved ones dying. It kept you up at night and although you tried to hide it from them, they could tell you were not getting enough sleep.

"I'm fine, Kara. The two of you need to stop fussing over every little thing. I've just been patrolling a little longer than usual to make up for the fact that National City took notice that you're not around."

You heard some shuffling and then another voice.

"We're coming back, (y/n). Lena is already making arrangements so we could fly out at the next hour."

"No, you're not doing any of that. Am I on speaker?"

Kara confirms, allowing you to continue.

"Lena, you better not. The two of you deserve vacation time. Don't make me tell Alex that the two of you are planning on coming back."

"Okay, okay. You don't need to threaten us. But I will fly over there if I hear from Alex that you lied."

"I'm fine, Kara. I promise."

"Alright. I'll let you go. We love you."

"Love you too. Have fun!"

You sigh in relief as you hung up. You truly loved your sisters but sometimes they could be a pain in the ass when they worried for you. Alex had been visiting you every morning to make sure that you hadn't spent all night out in the streets. Your girlfriend, Diana, had called you every night to make sure you were in bed as she couldn't really visit since she was on the other side of the country. Despite their worrying, you were still able to hide the fact that you hadn't been sleeping well. For the most part, it was a good thing. They didn't question you about it and you liked it that way but sometimes you wished you could tell them. Especially when you had dreams of them dying in the worst way possible. It made you feel guilty everytime you woke up and went out for another late-night patrol but you didn't want them to worry. They already had enough on their plate.

You struggled against the kryptonite-laced rope as you watched Cheetah hold a knife to Diana's neck.

"You really think you can save her (superhero name). You're weak just like she was. The two of you are pathetic. Who knew that Diana's greatness weakness would be a kyrptonian."

"Let her go, Barbara!"

You yelled through the pain. You couldn't remember how long you've been tied up. Every part of your body hurt but all you could focus was on Diana. You had failed her. You couldn't protect her and she was going to die because of you.

"Please! Let her go. Kill me instead!"

You pleaded to her but she just laughed.

"How about I just kill the two of you? No reason to keep one of you alive. Although I would love to see the face of Supergirl and Superman when I slide Diana's own sword through your body."

She gave you a sadistic smirk and slid the sword across Diana's neck.

"Nooooo."

You woke up, covered in sweat and gasping for air. This one had to be the worst one. You needed Diana. You needed to see if she was okay. A phone call was not enough.

Quickly putting on your suit, you flew out the window and flew as fast as you could across the country. You gently landed on her balcony, knocking on the door.

Diana wasn't expecting any visitors, especially ones that flew. As far as she knew, Clark was out of town. Curious to see who it was, she made her way over to the balcony. She couldn't help but gasp loudly at the state you were in. Your hair was a complete mess, despite being a kryptonian, you had bags under your eyes. It looked you hadn't been sleeping at all.

She quickly opened the door, only for you to wrap her in a tight hug as soon as she did.

Diana wrapped her arms around you, gently flying a little over the floor so she can lay with you down on the bed. She didn't want to say anything until you did. The state you were in made her worry. All kinds of questions kept popping up in her head, but she figured you needed to be comforted above all else.

You finally pulled your head off of her neck after calming down. You didn't bother to wipe your tears as you explained to her what happened.

"You died, Diana. I couldn't protect you and you died right in front of my eyes."

Diana gently wiped away your tears and gently kissed you.

"I'm right here, love. It was only a dream. That's never going to happen, the two of us are stronger together."

"Look what happened with Kara and Alex."

Finally realizing what this was all about, Diana understood what you were feeling.

"And they are both safe because of you and Lena. You protected them just like you always protect me."

You sigh and nod. She was right. They're alive because you had stepped in to help them.

"Have you not been able to sleep because of said dreams?"

You slowly nod. Diana sighs and pulls the covers over the two of you, holding you a little tighter.

"You should have told me, (y/n). I would've come over and stayed with you. I hate to think that you've been having nightmares for the past couple of weeks."

"It's fine. It was my fault for keeping it from everyone. I just didn't want to be a bother."

She gently lifted your chin up to face her.

"You could never be a bother now close your eyes. It's my turn to keep you safe."

You fell asleep while Diana had run her fingers through your hair. It was soothing and for the first time in weeks, you were able to sleep through the night.
