Mike sighed, while looking at the screen of his phone.
He just had had a talk with agent Coulson in his office. About Ace.
"Someday, you'll make the hard call. Just like everyone else did."
"You have someone waiting for you."
He closed his eyes, opened again, and pressed the call button on his phone.
Somewhere else in America, a little boy took up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey Ace."
"Dad!" The boy replied, full of enthusiasm.
"It's so good to hear your voice, buddy," Mike said. "And I got some good news. I'm gonna get home, and see you for a bit."
"Awesome!" The boy yelled. "Maybe you can come and meet my new friend. She said she knows you. She's here right now."
Mike his face changed.
"Ace, who's there with you?" Mike asked. "Where's your aunt Mindy?"
"Hello Mike," a other, familiar voice said over the phone.
"Remember when I told you I could change your life."
Mike froze, and started to shiver.
Something was very wrong.

                                                             *
Mike pressed the call away.
He could do this. If he could stick to the plan, he would-
"Hey. Power guy."
Instead of her usual 'let's smash the door open' entrance, Sanchez opened and closed the door of the room softly.
"Now I've seen you in action, it's time that we're gonna have a talk."
Something what Sanchez had said, sounded through his head.
"If you're up with something, I'll know."
This would get out of hand. Really.
"Agent Sanchez, I-"
"No no no, you're not gonna say anything to me."
She sat down on the bed next to him, and shortly, her lips weren't far away from his ear.
"I know every dirty little fact there is to know about the plan of the two of you," she whispered.
She stood up again. Mike shuddred.
Trouble. He was in so much trouble.
He could perfectly understand now why Fitzsimmons were affraid of her.
"But as I said. Know I've seen you, using your powers, we seriously need to talk. Do you still see them as a privilege? A gift?"
"No," Mike murmled.
"What did you say?"
"No!" He yelled back.
"Good! Because powers aren't a fucking gift! Mother nature doesn't think: O hey, that guys life is messed up, I'm in a good mood, let's give the guy some powers. Just to have fun. That's not how it works. Powers are a fucking curse. For you, for your familiy and friends, for everyone you love."
And Mike understood everything she said. When he had entered the bus for the first time, he had believed in the fact that he was a lucky guy with his powers. People needed him, to help them. He had never thought about a second about this part.
"I know about the trade," she whispered again in his ear. He wanted to say something, but she was already gone again.
"If you don't want to be cursed, there are a few rules you need to follow," she said.
"I'll make sure it's gonna be fine," she whispered again.
"Get the full control. And never forget who you are. Understood?"
"Yes ma'am," he answered.
"Good. Now we've had that; Don't call me ever again like that, for god's sake. Second; You'll wait five minutes before you're coming out of your room. This conversation never happend."
And with that, she left his room.

"They want a trade. Ace for his father. They've said a time and a place."
"Bloody savages."
"They want to experiment on him, to determine why he still has his abillities," Simmons said.
"Are we going to let them? We've fought these guys before."
"We don't have a choice. The instructions they gave Mr. Peterson were very specific. I called HQ, I told them to stand down."
"Stand down?!" May shouted.
"So we take them alone."
"We should at least have a hostage resque unit, in support of this."
"They said they would murder my son," Mike said. "If we make one wrong move-"
"Any electronics, any coms, any sign of surveillance, and they determinate the arrangment," Coulson said.
"I'll give myself up, no problem, get him back. I can figure it out from there."
"You're still recovering, we can't just hand you over to them like that. Can we?" Skye asked to Coulson.
"Fitzsimmons have an analotic method of tracking him."
They started to explain it in their special sciencitfic language, and Skye sighed.
"Hey, ehm... Am I the only one noticing that Borguez and Sanchez aren't with us on this?"
Sanchez and Borguez, who had been around in Canada, by coincidence, were sitting on the couch, being silent.
"The people of the centipede project are clever. Very clever. So we need to be careful," Borguez said.
"Indeed," Sanchez replied. She started to smile softly. Everyone knew what that meant.
"I promise you," Coulson said. "We'll get your son back."

"At least, let me escort him out for the exchange."
May hadn't spoken to Sanchez anymore, but she was sure from this. Sanchez had told her to leave Coulson never alone, and if they would let him escort Mike to the people from Centipede...
Something would happen. She knew.
"Mr. Peterson requested me," He answered. "I'm comfortable with that. And if things go south, I need you back here, taking point of the team. Are Ward and Borguez in position?"
"Yes. But I don't like any of this. Neither does Sanchez."
Both of them left the car, to the back of the little van.
"Once it happens, I'll fire up my equipment," Fitz said. "We'll be able to track you, where ever they take you."
"Just don't do anything that will endanger my son," Mike said.
"We won't," Skye said. "We only want to make sure that Ace has his dad at the end of the day too."
Sanchez layed her hand on Mike his shoulder.
"I know everyone thinks I'm a icy person, so..."
She embraced him.
"Remember my rules and my words," she whispered.
"On the good ending," She said. Fitzsimmons and Skye didn't know where to look, but what did it mater. It was Sanchez. Not the most common person in the world.
She also embraced Coulson. And his eyes widened, when he heard her words.
"You'll understand, in the end."
His face showed nothing, but he had heard the message. Loud and clear.
"Time to go," he said to Mike.
On two completely diffrent locations, Ward and Borguez were looking at the meeting point, with a special sniper gun. Both of them saw a car, coming in the direction of the car and the little van. A soldier and Raina came out.
"My team won't let you down."
"It wasn't supposed to go down like this," Mike said to Coulson.
"I'm gonna make this right. I swear."
They met exactly behind a truck, were Borguez and Ward hadn't a clear shot on them.
"Hello Mike," Raina smiled. "It's been a while."
Both of them didn't give a response.
"You're son is adorable," Raina said. "And he looks just like you."
She looked at Coulson.
" I don't believe I've had the pleasure."
"Lucky for you," he replied.
"I have to thank you, Mike," she said again. "For holding up your end of the deal."
"Lets just make the trade," Coulson said. "Give us Ace, and you can have him."
"Oh, that wasn't the deal," Raina said.
"You'll understand, in the end."
"I'm so sorry," Mike said.
Coulson wasn't even surprised.
"What's happening here, Mike?" He asked.
"Well, in exchange for his son, we asked Mike to deliver you," Raina said.
Mike grabbed Raina by her throad, but it didn't help anything.
"I'm not on full strength, but I can still crush your throath, no deal!" He shouted.
"My son for your life!"
"Sadly, my employer cares no more for my life than your son's. If I die, so does he."
Mike was doubting.
"And his death will be so much worse."
Coulson touched him on his shoulder.
"You need to let her go," he said.
"I told them they could have me. But they want you," Mike said, looking from Raina to Coulson.
"Why do they want you?"
"I don't know, but if you kill this woman, you'll never see your son again."
"But how will I look him in the eye, how will I explain what I did?"
"We talked about this," Coulson said again
"I'm so sorry."
He let Raina go, who breathed loudly.
"Lets finish this."
Raina winked to the car. One of the soldiers opened one of the doors, and Ace ran out of it, to his dad.
"Dad!"
In the car, the situation was complete diffrent. Everyone was being excited about Ace being back by his dad, but Sanchez her headache was far, far more worse now. She felt like she could pass out any minute.
Ace embraced his dad, and Mike lifted his son up on his arm.
"If there could have been any other way..."
"You made the only choice you had," Coulson replied.
Mike walked back with Ace to the little van.
Raina injected Coulson with something in his back.
"What happend? They took Coulson!" Ward shouted over the radio.
"I'm calling in, we need back-up."
Skye jumped out of the car, followed by Sanchez, a bit slower.
"I have a clear shot."
"Do not engage!" May shouted. "They'll kill Coulson. Stand down, I'll contact HQ."
Now, everyone came out of the car.
"Are you alright?" Simmons asked to Sanchez.
She didn't give a respons. She only kept staring at Mike, who came closer at them.
"Are you okay?" He asked Ace.
"I'm fine dad!" The boy said.
"SHIELD HQ, this is SHIELD RG-22, we need immediately satelite support," May contacted over the radio.
Mike dropped Ace of in the arms of Skye.
"Ace, I got to make something right," he said. "Daddy loves you so much, okay? Stay with Skye, allright? You remember Skye. Keep him safe!"
"Mike!" Sanchez yelled. He looked back for one last time.
"Remember my words."
"Take care of my boy!" He shouted. He ran back to the car with Raina and Coulson.
That was the moment everything exploded. Skye screamed.
Sanchez passed out.
