4.

Mae's pov

It was Rafe turn to scoff at me and my idea I had suggested.

"What the hell is the No Way Games?" He asked rolling his eyes before I had even opened my mouth.

"Well you dare each other to do things to push your limits and boundaries, loosen up. But you need to say No Way before the challenge" I said putting emphasis on the 'loosen up'. He looked at me as if I was a completely crazy. I understood why though because this was a very weird thing to have in the back of your mind.

"That sounds stupid" he spat quickly followed by 'I'm not doing it'. He went to walk away but I couldn't have that, we had English together next period. Without a second thought I reached out and grabbed his wrist pulling him back to face me.

"It might be, but you have to at least try otherwise we are most likely doomed" I said softly with a sigh. He huffed and pulled his hand out of my grip but didn't turn away. He dragged his teeth over his bottom lip as he thought.

"Before I commit to this I want all the details" he said in true Kook fashion raising an eyebrow. It also showed that he was uptight as someone who was 'loose' he would've said yes with no hesitation. I knew I probably would have, well I already have.

I smiled to myself and my eyes brightened. Aside from keeping my future stable this was also a way I could get back at him a little for being such a jerk to me. I think my first thing will be making him scream in the middle of class or spill his expensive coffee down himself in the common room.

He waved his hand in front of my face and flinched back blinking a couple times before realizing I had zoned out.

"Sorry..um" I whispered flustered as he smirked at me. He tapped his foot impatiently motioning for me to hurry up.  I began to pace side to side as I explained the rules to him. He picked it all up pretty fast, I would worry if he didn't, it was pretty simple.

"So I just have to say No Way and you have to do it?" He asked thinking it seemed too good to be true. I nodded and a smile slowly spread across his face, a wicked smile at that.

"There's No Way you'll leave me alone" he said his voice dripping with confidence. He thought he just cheated the system but sadly Principal Thornton's rules stood strong.

"You can't do that. Principal Thornton will give us both F's for everything" I snapped. As he sighed heavily, the brightness fading from his eyes.

He was about say something else when the school's bell rang loudly through our empty hallways. He closed his mouth and took this an opportunity to get me off his back. He turned on his heel and strutted away as I slowly shuffled myself away from where we just had a decent conversation for once in our lives.

I made my way to the English classroom via the back way so I could pass my locker. I swung it open and I grabbed out my English book sighing as I prepared myself for the next hour with Rafe.

I opened the door to the classroom and everybody inside whipped their head around at me. They whispered to each other and cast knowing glances around the room. I swallowed the lump in my throat and shuffled my way to the back of the classroom.

I hated how this is how I entered every class. Them all whispering and talking about how 'dirty' and 'low' I was.

I got out my things and watched as everyone else poured into the room. Rafe walked through the door, his facial expression cold, glaring at everybody who caught his eye.
I flicked my eyes to the empty seat next to me knowing he had to take it due to certain rules we now were under. He looked at it from the front of the class before steadily making his way through the rows of seats. He slumped down into the chair beside me with a huff not even acknowledging my presence.

I frowned and hoped he'd act more friendly during he lesson. I need those top grades Cameron! I yelled at him mentally.

Our English teacher strutted in and the giggles and chatter in the classroom faded away.
He swung his bag onto the desk before looking out at all of us.

He pulled his class list from his bag and clicked his pen on. He started to call names out getting the daily attendance.

"Rafe Cameron?" He called and searched the classroom. Rafe slowly raised his hand not really caring if he got marked or not today, probably because he was seated beside me.

Our teachers eyes darted to where Rafe sat and where I sat. He stopped taking the roll and pushed his glasses further onto his face making sure he was seeing thing correctly.

"Rafe, I am glad to see you sitting beside Mae" he said exposing us both to the class. They all turned their head towards me and I shrunk back in my chair knowing they thought it was for reasons it wasn't.

Rafe didn't answer, instead he just shuffled uncomfortably in his seat. I sat there awkwardly playing my fingers not daring to look at him.

"Mae?!" I heard my name called loudly as a hand hit my shoulder harshly. I snapped my eyes upwards to find our teacher starring at me intently. I really needed to stop dazing off.

"Y-yes" I stuttered back embarrassed.

I saw Rafe smirk  at me out the corner of my eye. I turned my head towards him and lifted my hand to where he had hit me.

"Ouch" I whispered to him my eyes serious.

He fake pouted at me amusement shinning through his eyes.

"Aww did I hurt wittle Minnie Mae?" He said in a childish voice as I rolled my eyes.

"Don't call me that" I said annoyed by his joking manner.

"Is someone mad?" He taunted flicking his eyes to our teacher who wasn't paying any attention to us.

"You don't know the half of it" I spat and sunk back into my chair my eyebrows furrowed.

I watched as he lent back in his chair completely unfazed by it all. When an idea crossed my mind in how to make him a little more human.

I turned to face him once more a smirk resting on my lips. He turned to me a sigh falling from his lips.

"What? Gonna cry now?" He said childishly once more I rolled my eyes at his accusation.

"There is No Way you will stand up right now and apologize to me in front of the whole class" I dared him smugly. I knew he wouldn't do it, it would hurt his precious Kook reputation by apologizing to me.

But I just showed how he needs to watch his mouth and every single move he makes, because this is my game, not his.
