Mae's pov

I had a wickedly giddy smile painted across my face as I dragged Rafe behind me, who was trying so hard to stay blank faced. He felt very heavy as if he was resisting my tugging which he was by dragging his feet.

I sighed heavily and stopped walking which made him stumble on his feet. I would've laughed if I wasn't so annoyed at his negative attitude. I knew he didn't want to see me but the least he could do was walk properly.

I turned on my heel to face a confused Rafe who just had an impatient eyebrow raised. I gripped his wrist tighter as I stepped in and he gulped at the dark look of annoyance which beamed from my baby blue eyes.  I lifted my other hand and pointed a finger at his chest and glanced away so I could remain calm before I spoke.

"Look the easier you make this the quicker it will be" I huffed at him as he just nodded in shallow agreement. I once more turned on my heel and continued walking towards my house, thankfully Rafe was no longer dragging his feet making it much easier and faster to get there.

I approached the tree and turned my head to face Rafe's who just raised another questioning eyebrow.

"I have to go get some money, don't leave, you agreed to the dare" I said with a hopeful sigh falling from my lips. He just blankly nodded at me, no even bothering to speak. I could see the mischevous glint looming in his eyes, he might've nodded but I could tell he had different.

To see what he would do and to catch him out, I started moving towards the tree and placed my hands against the bark. I sensed him take a step back so I pretended to prepare myself to climb and within seconds he started to run away from me and my house.

I noticing his fleeing presence took after him and his childish bitter attitude. He looked a little startled and possibly scared when he noticed I was trailing him. I could only imagine the amount of feed up anger which laced my eyes and face.

I just wanted him to stop running so I dived from him, well his legs. I tackled him taking him down hard and fast. I would use the saying 'he didn't know what hit him' but he did.

He let out a muffled groan as he tried to regain some oxygen into his lungs. Rafe slowly tilted his back to look at me to which I just gave a cute smile but the anger still burned deep in my eyes.

I got up quickly and dusted myself off whilst I watched Rafe just roll over onto his back. His face was contemplating whether the fact I just tackled him successfully was indeed real. I resisted the urge to laugh at his confused state as I extended a hand out to help him up. He eyed my hand suspiciously for a second before taking it, hesitation in his flexing fingers as the slid into my hand.

I pulled him up off of the ground  and he now towered over me once again. He slipped his hand out of mind as he disgustingly dusted himself off as if had never fell over into the ground before.

"Never been on the ground before?" I taunted him resisting a smirk which longed to be on my lips. Rafe rolled his eyes at my statement before scoffing as he answered.

"Well, it might be hard to believe but I've never been tackled" he said smugly as if it was a great achievement.

"You never played bull-rush? Oh right you're a Kook" I teased him once more letting the smirk finally settle on my lips.

"Bull-rush is a game for savages why would know it? Oh right you're a Pogue" he said taunting me back with - if it is even possible- a more smug tone. I rolled my eyes and gripped his hand once more and took him back towards my house. I decided this time to take him through the front door and up to my room with me.

"At least I know how to tackle with out taking out my own shoulder" I taunted back and flared my eyebrows upwards. He glanced away for a moment trying to remain annoyed which he was; but more importantly he was trying resist a chuckle from escaping his lips.

I fiddeled through my draws grabbing cash which I had stashed in any place which was avaliable at the time. I was not the most organized person when it came to my room.

"Okay let's go" I muttered before grabbing his arm again and dragging him out of the house. Rafe groaned when I grabbed his arm and he tried to wiggle out of it but I had a firm grip.
I let go of his arm when we came closer to town. I led us down a few street which would've been totally unfamiliar to Rafe.

"Where are we going?" Rafe asked as I glanced back to see him survey the surrounding buildings. He seemed on edge and cautious maybe even a little frightened as I did just lead him down a slightly shadowed alley way.

"Marcies" I said with a gentle smile trying to reassure him I wasn't leading him to his death or something drastic.

"Marcies?" He questioned as I lead him up some stairs towards where the shop entrance was. I stopped short of it's doors and gestured to the store sign. I had an 'see' 'look at that' sarcastic wow facial expression as I did so.

"Marcies - clothing wonders for wonderful prices" he breathed before glancing through the shops window.
There were rack open racks of clothing, all categorised by size and colour. The lights were flickering on the ceiling and the wall paper slightly dated. There were changing rooms in the back, small cubicles with disgustingly patterned curtains for a door.

I chose this place because it did have good prices which I could afford and there was bound to be at least a one dress and suit for us both.

I watched as Rafe's nose crinkled at the sight of the dingy store which was immaculately furnished.

"Why here?" He asked in a snobby tone as he turned to look at me one eyebrow raised. I rolled my eyes at his attitude again before replying.

"Because I like it" I stated bluntly back a hint of annoyance lodged in my throat. Rafes shrugged his shoulders as if he was trying to come to terms with the thought of entering the store.
I starting to feel more outraged by his bratty presence took matters into my own hands.

Without warning I stepped forward I grabbed his shirt collar pulling his face down to level with mine. He was a stunned at my actions and stumbled on his feet before pulling back slightly uncomfortable with the turn of events.

"Stop acting like a snobby brat and just go with it!" I hissed as he scoffed at my acquisition.

"The place looks trashy" he hissed back and pointed at the store. I gasped at how rude he was being about someone livelihood and store.

"It is not trashy. You only think that because the store you shop in every item of clothings cost thousands." I spat back taking a dig at him once more. I glanced down for a moment and licked my lips as I calmed myself.

"Look Rafe, I have worked so hard for everything I have! I deserve to be able to buy myself my own dress which make me feel extraordinary not matter the store. If you honestly don't see that then you should just leave now........leave me"

The words came speeding off my lips, harsh, bitter and true. My lips quivered in the end as I
laid all my cards on the table. Now it was his turn to pick them up or grab a new one.
