Mae's pov

I walked around the store admiring everything and also seeming lost in a way. I saw a girl not too many years older then myself. She approached me with the store logo printed on her shirt. She smiled kindly and gave me a small wave before beginning our conversation.

"Hi! What are you looking for today?" she asked politely as I smiled back.

"I'm going to be completely honest with you. I am pranking my boyfriend right now. He doesn't realize I am of age to buy alcohol so he's expecting me to do something rash...... but that is not going to be the case" I quickly reassured her as a light laugh fell from her lips at my dilemma.

"Fair enough. I love it when these things happen. Makes the day a little more exciting" she says and extends her arm out to pat my shoulder in a friendly manner.

"I was looking for some vodka, I believe" I said and turned to look at the shelves but when I turned my attention back towards the girl she already had a bottle in her hand.

"Oh" I exclaimed with a giggle as she walked me up to the counter. I grabbed my ID and card from my pocket and gave them to her to inspect. In no less than a minute I was on my way out of the store with a bottle vodka in hand.

I flicked up to look at Rafe who looked ever so shocked sitting in his drivers seat. I opened the door and slid back into the passengers seat.

"What the hell Murchison!" he exclaimed looking at me stunned and confused. His blues looked at me with a harshness but also something else much more softer lurking behind it. My lips parted to reply to him but he had more to say.

"You just bought it?" he says and gestured a hand out to the bottle. His jaw was clenched tightly at the fact I had just one'd him up.

"Well yeah, what else was I - a girl of age- supposed to do Cameron?" I retorted back, my own eyes wide beaming back at him just as harshly. I could feel the tension between us rising so I decided to turn my head away and stare out the window. I knew he would be a littlefrustrated with my actions but he seemed so much more angry then I predicted, and for once I wasn't sure why. I placed the bottle down into the cup holder without looking at him when I heard his door click open.

My head snapped in the direction of Rafe who was now departing the car and I hurried to rush after him. I didn't want him to leave me alone in his car, we could talk this out, I wasn't even sure why he was so mad. He was mad, wasn't he? Nothing deeper? I thought as I went after him.

"Rafe! Rafe!" I said trying to jog in my boots as he marched onto the beach away from me. I groaned annoyed and bent down to take my boots off before rushing a few metres back to chuck them in his car.

I then continued to make my way down the beach after him. He had his hands shoved in his pockets and his head down. Even from far away I could see how tensed his muscles were and how harshly clenched his jaw was.

"Rafe Cameron stop walking away from me!" I yelled at him and he turned around a little stunned that I had followed him, I guess not many people did when he got in this sort of state.

I finally managed to catch up with him, lungs heaving as I hunched over slightly, I wasn't exactly a running type. I held up my finger gesturing to Rafe not to say a word as I regained my breath.

I really needed to go running more often.

"Why did you leave? Why are you so mad?" I asked still panting heavily as I stood up properly once more. His eyes widened as I spoke and I could see him swallow as he tried to produce a response.

"I just.. I needed to leave before I moved further then you are prepared for. I'm not mad Mae" he said a small blush creeping up his neck as he avoided eye contact with me. I tilted my head to the side not fully understanding what he was trying to say.

"Rafe.... I.." I started but I didn't know how to respond. I took a moment and rubbed my forehead, my brain now working on Rafes words as it did on homework. After relaying his sentence over and over, I finally understood what he meant.

In conclusion: he implied sexual intentions which he knew that I wasn't ready for yet so he left because he didn't want to possibly  do something he'd regret.

"Rafe, that's sweet" I said with a small flustered smile spread across my face. I stepped forward grabbing his arm and moving his hand from out of his pocket so I could hold it. I ducked my head for a second a blush creeping onto my own cheeks.

"But next time just tell me... don't run away" I said and brought my other hand onto his cheek, grazing my thumb back and forth. He dazed at me in pure bliss, eyes filled with adoration which made my heart skip a beat.

"Maebelline Milli Murchison, you are incredible. I taunt you endlessly and somehow you one up me. I asked you to be a fool and get some vodka. Others when they are of age still play an act but you just said to hell with that! I asked for vodka you got me vodka in a intelligent way, defying me, beating me.
Instead of just leaving me, you chase after me.
Even after everything I have put you through, here you are standing in front me. Caring. Understanding. Acknowledging. Accepting." He rambled giving my hand a soft squeeze as I blushed more.

"I just said I didn't want to accidentally give in to my sexual desires and stormed off. You said just to tell you. Others in your position would've just been like 'well.. if you really want'. But you said hell to that as well! You stuck with your decision and self while still consoling me! You're a freaking human super computer with a goddess complex." He said his eyes wide with wonder and an unbelievably joyful smile on his face. I grazed my lower lip with my teeth as I stayed with my eyes locked with Rafe's. I breathed in slowly unsure of what to say back, if I was even meant to say anything.

"Rafe... I do not say hell to it! I say no way..." I decided to make one of my most tragic and corniest jokes yet. I then continued to duck my head in embarrassment at what I had just said.

Rafe was silent for a moment  before I heard a roaring laughter start to break from his lips. He pulled me into him, my head curling into his chest as it rose and fell with laughter. One arm wrapped around my waist and the other onto the back of my head, playing with the strands of my hair as he continued to laugh and my ridiculous comment.

"How about we go get you some vodka to forget that terrible joke" he whispered in my ear as I groaned into his chest still embarrassed. He brought his lips down and gently pressed them on the top of my head as a way of gaining my attention back again, not that it really left.

"Put me out of my misery" I whispered back and shuffled my way to his side, wrapping my own arms around his torso as we walked tightly wound together back to his car.

I found myself delving deeper with every encounter and time I spent with Rafe. Speaking of things I never thought I would talk about with anybody, even Katelyn, although she would to discuss it all.. that gossip lover. I was truly trusting Rafe Cameron as he was truly trusting me, changing his old 'jerk' ways to suit me.

We were colliding in a way we never had before.
