14.

Mae's pov

"You" I muttered in frustration and clenched my eyes closed in regret. I breathed out a deep sigh as a warm glow spread across my face.

"Me?" he retorted in slight shock and amusement. I didn't turn around I stayed with one hand clenched on the curtains edge and my head hung low.

"Yes, you" I whispered back to him and his gaze on the back of my head was enough make me turn around. I met his eyes and my demeanor became less angry and more tender. He gazed back at me his eyes wide and somewhat longing.

"She's annoyed because she can't get over the fact that I have forgiven you, that you are.." I drifted off and raked my hand through my hair as I avoided his gaze. I could see his blue eyes looking at my anticipation and curiosity as to what words would spill from my mouth next.

"My Friend" I hummed softly and somehow saying it in front of him hurt more then saying it to Katelyn. It was if the air had been sucked out of my lungs as I gazed at him a guilty look in my eye. It was if I had lied, but I hadn't. His lips parted for a moment releasing a shaky breath soon followed by a bewildered smile, yet there was a slight sadness in his eyes.

"Your friend?" he questioned his voice as light as a feather, an underlying question behind his confirmation.

"Yes, my friend. Now let's go shopping" I said and dismissed the heat that grew in my chest and the dryness which covered my throat. I dropped my eyes to the ground as I grabbed my wallet and phone before rushing past him. I watched as he turned to face me stunned and confused as I dismissed him before.

I gripped my door handle and made myself remain calm and not give away the underlying feelings I had in my head. The jumbled thoughts of Rafe and his movements, his smirk, his blue eyes, his jawline, his words, him.

"Rafe are you coming?" I asked as he stood frozen in the middle of my room gazing at me his eye clouded over with mixed emotions.

He stumbled forward pursing lips tightly together as he did so. I left my room and he followed me as we exited my house and towards his car. The ride to the shops was silent, an eiry silence out that especially for us two.

When we arrived I let out sigh of relief and exited the vechile quickly as I could. We wandered for amoment when Rafe spotted a rather girly store and looked at my assessing my style.

"How about this one M&M's?" he asked and pointed towards it an eyebrow raised as my eyes followed in it's direction. I nodded excitedly and grabbed his wrist as I pulled him hurriedly into the store.

I started raking through the dresses off to one side as Rafe walked aimlessly around looking at what other things might make an interesting combo. I had filed through a lot of the dresses when I turned around to see Rafe holding a few of his own. I smirked as my eyes flicked from the dresses to him.

"I think you might need a bigger size Cameron" I teased as he glared at me for a moment and extended his arm of dresses out to me.

"There for you, dummy" he taunted back a devilish smirk on his face.

I rolled my eyes at him and took the dresses from his arms and headed towards the changing rooms. To make everything a bit more painful for him, I made an effort to show every single one to him. He often made some smart remarks towards the ones that I would never actually wear. I had a couple nice ones from my pile and now it was time test out Rafe's choice in clothes for me.

I took a green one off of the hanger, it had a rather plunging v-neck which ended a few centimetres above my bellybutton. It connected to a thick tight band around my waist for it fanned out for a short moment before the dress ended high on my thighs. I sucked in a deep breath as I wriggled myself into, feeling as if more of was showing then covered by the garment.

I reached around to zip the dress up but it was rather hard to get the zip all the way up, I couldn't reach as far as I needed to with my own arm. I huffed slightly and peeked my head out sheltering the rest of my body behind the curtain as Rafe looked at me curiously.

"I need your help. I am dressed! I just can't get the zip up all the way" I spoke loosely and watched his eyes flash slightly before he started to slowly rise from his seat. I ducked back into the changing room, facing the mirror my eyes towards the ground. The curtain rustled as he made his way into the small space. I heard him suck a breath in as he looked at me through the mirror. I flicked my eyes up a blush spreading across my face his eyes scanned over me and locked with mine. His presence behind me, gazing at me with such a longing attraction was enough to make my skin tingle, breath hitch and head go dizzy.

I tilted my head to side and grabbed my hair in my hand as I smoothed it off my back and over my shoulder. I stood there for a minute as I felt Rafe's eyes still gazing at me through the mirror, his stare burning into my body. I clear my throat to try and ease sensual tension surrounding us although it doesn't really work when I start to turn around. My skin started to feel hot and my heart was beating out of my chest as I tried to stay on my feet whilst moving to face him.

"Rafe, are you going to zip -" I started trying to snap him out of his trance and my own, but I was swiftly cut off by his hands cupping my face and his forehead pressing against mine. My lips quivered under his touch as my hands fumbled onto his chest at his sudden closeness. His eyes stayed steady with mine for a moment allowing me to see all those pent up emotion from the last few weeks. Want, Adoration, Kindness, Need.

He clenched his eyes closed as he let out rapid breaths filled with nerves which made my knees weaken as his breath skimmed over my lips. As I felt a rising warmth in my chest I nudged my head upwards and pressed my nose against his. He opened his eyes wide at my inviting actions only to be met with my soft gaze and small smirk. He seemed a little shocked to see me looking at him just as longingly as he was looking at me.

Suddenly he moved all at once and pressed his lip against mine softly. I moaned lowly at the feeling of his lips tangled with my own. They were chapped but sweet and left me with a craving for more.

His let out a sharp breath at my moan and pressed his lips against mine harder, more passionate and rough than before, more need then want. I stumbled back until my back was pressed firmly against the mirror he used to rake his eyes over my body only moments before.

One hand slipped further around my head and entangled his fingers in my hair, gently pulling at the strands. I tilted my head back at his request as his tongue swiped across my bottom lip but I denied him teasingly. It was in that moment that his eyes fluttered opened as he realized once more whose lips were pressed against his. He pulled back gasping for air his fingers still entangled in my hair. I looked at his wide eyes and the rate at which his chest fell up and down. He was in shock of what he had just done, frozen, feet glued to the floor as I breathed heavily looking back.

"Rafe...?" I breathed my voice barely a whisper as I tried to regain composure, a stomach filled with soaring butterflies. His eyes flicked to the ground and his hands fell from my face leaving cold patches where they used to rest. He took a few steps back still not meeting my eyes. My own heart was beating loudly in my ears and my body was like jelly from our kiss. I reached out for his wrist, to tell him it was alright, to show him I wanted this just as much he did, to tell him it wasn't a mistake.

I didn't get the chance.

He turned in his heel and rushed away but I could see his arm rising to rip a hand back through his brunette hair.
With the images of nerves flooding over him, my weakened knees from his hand resting on my cheek and a rapid heart beat from his lips on mine, I stood alone in the changing room left with a longing for more.

Biggest surprise of my life, was falling for Rafe Cameron and I had now done it hard.
