Mae's pov

We walked in comfortable silence towards the principals office when I decided to make a very truhtful statment.

"You know I never went to the Principals office before and then you showed up" I said and gestured my hand up and down at him.

His lips curled into a grin as he cast a glance at me.

"Yeah maybe you were the one needing to loosen up" he joked back and bumped his shoulder into me. Being in heels I stumbled side ways a little before regaining my composure and balance. He let out a chuckle at me and I just shot him a glare.

"You can wear my shoes if you like" I taunted and he stopped chuckling. I stood outside the office and waited for Rafe to knock but he went straight to the door handle.

I smacked his hand away and rolled my eyes before knocking myself.

"A Kook with no manners gosh" I huffed and waited for Principal Thornton to open the door. He greeted us with a serious posture saying nothing as he let us into his office.

Josh was sitting in the far seat with his arm crossed over his chest. Rafe pushed past me and sat in the middle seat not allowing Josh to be anywhere near me.

"You all know why you're here, this kind of behaviour is unacceptable." He said in a low tone as paced behind us. I felt the hairs on the back in my neck stand up at his tone.

"You all will have 2 days off school, consider it a suspension." He said walking around to his desk. I sat upright in my chair my eye wide. A suspension! I can't afford to have a suspension on my record, it would ruin everything.

Principal Thornton sat down at his desk and I saw Rafe shift in his seat, his face cold not happy with the decision either.

"Josh please leave" he said gruffly and flicked hisbeye to us. Josh huffed and left annoyed ad angry much like I was on the inside but I was also panicking.

"Rafe, Mabel, this will not appear on your record as I know this whole situation wasn't properly started by you." He clasped his hands together as I fell back into my seat witg relief.

"Thank you sir" I spoke swiftly and kindly. I saw Rafe sigh deeply a sign of relief from him that it wasn't going onto our records.

"Although Miss Murchison, if you wear something like this again I will have to suspend you for breaking the dress code" he stated as I blushed and pulled at the edges of my skirt.

"I won't" I whispered into myself as he stood and gestured for us to leave.

I stood wearily and made my way out of the classroom as Rafe followed, I could feel his eyes gazing at the back of my head. I smiled to myself but shook it away when I heard the office door close.

"Rafe..?" I asked quietly as I turned to face him. He raised an eyebrow waiting for me continue.

"Do you think I went to far? Like I did wear this. Is it really that provoking" I said and looked down at myself.

Rafe sighed and ran a hand through his hair at my question. He was nervous and it showed in his eyes as he gazed at me as well. He moved his eyes all over me a little flustered by question and the sudden need to know his opinion on my looks.

"Well I wouldn't call it provoking.." he started drifting off at the end as he connected his gaze with mine. I felt my breath hitch in my throat as I waited for his next few words. He pulled on the collar of his shirt before he continued.

"It is however very bold and shows details that before people couldn't see" he said as his eyes flicked from eyes to my chest and hinted at the fact my ass would also be rather vivid in my skirt. I blushed ducking my head away and rocking on my feet. He took interest with how carefully he worded his answer and I kept that thought in my head, he took interest in how he treated me. Though he should after I basically called him out on everything the other day in those changing rooms.

"I think you just look like a normal girl, they couldn't simply over look the fact you didn't have these features after all it is in your genetics" he started to ramble become a little scrambled with his words. A smile broke out onto my face at his nerves now showing and stepped forward closer to him. I outstretched my hand grazed it onto his shoulder and made him focus on me. His eyes snapped to my smiling face as his cheeks were slightly flushed.

"Thank you" I said gently to him and I felt his muscles relax under my finger tips. He looked at me a little confused but comforted by my two words. His eyes glued to mine as we stood there silently, but not awkwardly, it was more of an easy feeling. A feeling of just wanting to stay right here in front of each other, not changing, no drama just pure calm.

Rafe cleared his throat as I dropped my hand off of his shoulder. I breathed out heavily and took a step back acknowledging where we are not the place where I just went.

"We should probably leave before that bell goes off" he said and looked at bell on ceiling behind me. I smiled politely and started to walk towards the school's exit and I felt his gaze burning over my legs.

"You coming or too busy admiring my walking skills?" I whipped my head over y shoulder and taunted him. He scoffed and caught up to me unfazed by my observations.

"You wish I was" he joked back and I rolled my eyes at his flirting humour.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night Cameron" I said as we made out way outside the school's ground. He walked to his car as I veered off down my own path home, thankfully my parents were away on a business trip this week otherwise I'd be walking back to a nightmare.

"Hey Mae!" I heard Rafe call out and I turned on my heel at the mention of my name. He was half in his car, standing awkwardly upright as calling out to me had a split second decision.

"Do you want to come to my party next week?" he asked as my lips parted in shock.

Rafe Cameron who had been my enemy only a week ago was now asking me to one his Kook parties. I ruffled my hair and fiddled with my earring as I tried to figure out whether I wanted to say yes or no.

"If you want me too" I called back deciding it was a fair answer. He smirked to himself getting into his car when I suddenly thought of a fun dare. I strutted towards him quickly waving my hands out so he wouldn't drive away. Once I reached him wound down his window and leaned out the side.

I bit my lip smirking at him a little out of breath before I declared my dare.

"There's no way you'll go shopping with me. After all I will need an outfit this party of yours"
