Your best friend, Erestor was at your door after a long day of work as chief councellor to Lord Elrond. After you opened the door, he greeted you.

"Good day, mellon nin." He smiled brightly. "I was thinking, what if we baked something tonight? That would be nice."

"Of course. I suggest we bake a cake." you answered. "Perhaps chocolate flavored."

Erestor nodded. "Good. When shall we begin?"

"Right now." You took him to your kitchen and brought out some ingredients and materials in order to bake. Your friend rubbed the palms of his hands and helped you measure the ingredients.

As you added the chocolate into the mixture, you noticed Erestor staring at you. Furrowing your eyebrows, you waved your hands at his face. He shook his head and apologized for staring.

In order to assist you, he mixed in the rest of the ingredients and placed the cake in the oven. You sat down and sighed. Erestor sat next to you.

"How was your day?" Erestor asked.

"It wasn't interesting at all." you replied. "I just sat down, read a book, and did nothing. Until you came in. How was your day?"

"It was normal. I went to work. And then I left for the day to look for a work of art." he said, smirking a little.

"Did you find one?"

"I did. I'm looking at the art right now." You elbowed the elf while blushing. He could be a bit of a flirt. "Did I make you uncomfortable?"

"You didn't. But your little jokes can be unexpected. So they catch me off guard." you explained.

"Who said I was joking?" Your jaw dropped and you began to laugh awkwardly. "You are quite beautiful, like a painting of a forest, or a nice sketch of a flower."

Erestor took your hands and made you red. You were in love with him. Really, you have been for some time, and this moment is making you love him even more.

Time seemed to freeze, as you felt as if you were in this position for hours. Nobody spoke. It was completely quiet. The smell of chocolate filled the area.

"Is this the moment where you tell me that you love me?" you asked Erestor.

No response from him. He just looked at you. It looked as if he were frozen. This made you a bit uncomfortable, but you tried your best to hide your discomfort.

After several minutes passed, your best friend let go of your hands and put an arm around your shoulders casually. Hoping that he would start a conversation with you, you sighed softly. But there was silence until you realized that you needed to prepare the frosting.

In the kitchen, you and Erestor made a white frosting. As you two waited for the cake to be done, the ellon got a bit of frosting on one of his fingers and ate it.

"Can you pass me that bowl? I would like to try the frosting." you said. Erestor decided to tease you by lifting the bowl up so you couldn't reach it. "Come on... I just want a bit!" You laughed and jumped to try to take the bowl from him.

The ellon laughed with you. "You can reach it!"

This went on for a few minutes. You managed to take the frosting and eat a tiny bit of it. "It's good. We did great." you told Erestor.

Erestor goofily bowed. "Thank you, my lady." His goofiness made you giggle.

You goofily bowed as well. "You are very welcome, my lord." you giggled. "Now, we shall go check on our cake, and if it's ready, we'll frost it together." The cake seemed to be ready, so you took it out of the oven in order to let it cool before frosting it.

As you waited, you wrapped your arms around Erestor's arm. He looked down at you and smiled sweetly. Many other elves had told you and Erestor that you look like a couple. Then you had to explain that you two were friends and not lovers.

"Why can't we frost the cake now?" Erestor asked. He looked a bit impatient but you knew that he needed to wait.

"The frosting will melt right off the cake if we don't wait a while." you explained. "So just let the cake cool off, Erestor. Or else the cake could be ruined."

"Do you know what else I cannot wait for?" You tilted your head. "I cannot wait to be yours. I love you, and I wish I said this a long time ago... but I was too scared before."

After gasping in surprise, you told him, "I love you, too. And I have for so long. You probably don't know how glad I am that you feel the same way."

"Oh trust me, I feel exactly how you feel. Thank goodness that I did not have to go through an awkward rejection." Erestor took your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours. It was a peaceful moment. Just the two of you together. "Would you be my love?"

You nodded and felt so elated that this was happening. It almost felt like a dream. Like one of those sweet dreams that you prefer to remember.

"Do you want to kiss now or...?" asked Erestor. You pulled him closer to you and kissed him on the lips softly. Then, the two of you seperated. "Well this is moving quickly." He chuckled, while he was blushing lightly.

It was time to frost the cake, and you and Erestor were making a small mess that you two definitely had to clean up later. The ellon got frosting on his face somehow. You pointed it out and he cleaned his face, muttering something under his breath.

At last, the cake was complete, and it was ready for eating. You told Erestor to sit down at a table and wait for you to bring him a slice. A few moments later, you came with two slices. One for you and one for him.

"I just realized that we may have to tell people that we became a couple as we were waiting for a cake to cool." Erestor said. "We bonded over cake."

"But is it really a bad thing?" you laughed. The ellon shrugged.

"No, it isn't." He began to laugh loudly. You placed your arm on the table for Erestor to hold your hand. And he did exactly what you hoped he would do.

You gazed into Erestor's eyes before taking another bite from your cake. This was simply a very nice day.

That's the oneshot for today. Writing this just made me really like Erestor for some reason. I hope you enjoyed this oneshot!
