You were a secret. Nobody knew exactly who you were. Most people didn't even know that you exist. All you were was a genuine person, hidden under a mask of steel and lies. Well, you were in fact always hidden behind an actual mask. What were you? What did you do? Why did you hide behind a mask all day? Those were the questions that people would have if they saw you.

The thing is, nobody ever got to see you. Not a single person. Ever since you hid in the woods of Mirkwood, you remained unseen. It felt lonely to be by yourself, obviously, but you wanted to be alone. Why you did that? It was because you had gotten framed for stealing, and you faced being jailed. So, instead of facing the consequences of somebody else's actions, you ran away, into the dark forest, surviving on the little sources.

There was little food and drink, but whatever you could get, you took it. As an elf, you couldn't get physically sick, meaning that you could eat many things, as long as they aren't poisoned or completely inedible. However, that didn't mean that you had a lot of sources. Still you had very little things to eat and drink. You wished that you would be able to go into the kingdom again, and just live like a normal elf.

But alas, a snake had to betray your trust, and then framed you for an action that you have never done and will never do. You were so mad, and you wanted revenge, but you realized that it wasn't a good idea. Maybe one day, if you had a person or two by your side, you could get justice for being wrongly convicted. That could be your comeback. That could be your way of getting a type of revenge and then being able to go back home. And that was your wish.

Being stuck outside changed you. It made you think about life. Life now was different, since you didn't have the luxuries of being inside. There was no more having a plush bed to sleep on, or a nice warm blanket to cover yourself up with. Now, there was only sitting in branches, sleeping on the grass, having little to eat, and being forced to breathe the harsh, thick air. Never have you been more appreciative of the days that you lived inside.

Then, you thought about how there might be people looking for you. Some of the elves were in a guard, and perhaps the king of Mirkwood had sent them to search for you. If they found you, you will be horrified. You would be put in a frightening position, and you will be alone. Thrown in jail, for commiting a crime that you didn't commit. All of this frustration was really getting to you. It was damaging.

A few tears formed in your eyes as you realized what could happen to you. If nobody was by your side, then there was no chance of not being jailed when you were found. Then, you sat by one of the trees, with your fists punching the ground. The throbbing pain was nothing compared to the amount of emotional pain you felt right now. You sobbed and let out tears and some of your frustration. This was so unusual for you to do, as you were almost always well put together.

Somebody seemed to hear your cries, and decided to examine the source of the noise. They took their time to find the person who was crying making some odd noise. Who was that? Or what was that? The person had assumed that you were not a person, but an animal who was hurt by the dangers of the forest. But, their assumption was incorrect, as you were an elf, just crying at the fact that you missed home, and the old life you left.

Eventually, the elf had found you, sitting with your back facing a tree. The trees of Mirkwood were twisted and very different from the trees of other woods. This was because Mirkwood was made dark due to the darkness in the world. You wished that the woods were normal and how they seemed to be long ago. This place used to be a wonderful one, until it came to this. The elf who found you kneeled and comforted you.

He had blond hair, and blue eyes, and he seemed familiar. Like you've seen him back when you lived inside the kingdom. And then, you realized that he was your old friend, Legolas. You two were close, and you had a secret love for him. He still looked as he did before you ran away from the people chasing you. Dear Valar, you are still in love with him. You were incredibly surprised that you nearly forgot about him.

"Why are you crying?" asked Legolas.

"Because I have been stuck in here for a long while. And if I escape, I will be caught and arrested. For something that I haven't done." you explained. "I wish to go back home, but I can't. Not if nobody is by my side. Somebody has framed me for a crime, and now the people are chasing me. This life that I lead, hidden from the fair folk, I hate it. I hate it, and I want to leave it." You began to sob, with your face buried in your hands.

Legolas tried to get a good look at your face. Something about that story was familiar. "I had a friend who was convicted for stealing, which made them run away." he recalled. "Could you please show me your face. I won't turn you in, I promise."

Hesitantly, you looked up and took off your mask. You slowly revealed your face and stared at your old friend. His eyes were wide open, and he was surprised to see you. Of course he was, because he hadn't seen you in ages. He missed you, even though you seemed to have committed a crime.

"We haven't seen each other in so long, Legolas." you told him.

Legolas murmured your name and put a hand on your cheek. "I can't believe it's you." he whispered. You felt as if you could melt right there on the forest floor. "Last time we met was shortly after my father tried to arrest you for stealing."

"I did not steal." you said. "I did not do it. That was all lies."

The elf took a few moments to stare at you before he talked. You were scared that he wouldn't believe you. But you were speaking the truth. "Well, I believed you. And I've known that you did not steal since you were first accused." Legolas told you. "You would never do such a thing. You're too good of a person to do that. Now, will you come with me to prove to my father that you are innocent?" You nodded, standing up with Legolas.

As the two of you walked to the kingdom, you gathered up some courage. "Hey, Legolas, can I tell you something?" you asked. The elf nodded, and you sighed, as you were a little nervous. "I love you. And I have since before I was wrongly accused of stealing."

You gulped. Legolas flashed a smile your way, and kissed your cheek. "I love you, too." he said.

Then, he lead you into the busy part of Mirkwood, to face his father to defend you. It was a scary experience, but luckily, you and Legolas had proved to King Thranduil that you were innocent. Finally, you returned to the life that you longed for back when you were living outside in the forest.
