Morning Walk - Merry x Reader

It was early in the morning when you woke up in Buckland. You've lived here for some time now. Ever since you married Merry Brandybuck. He was outside at the moment, waiting for you to walk outside and be with him. So, you got out of bed and somewhat fixed your hair and put on some clothes that you can wear on a cool morning.

Outside, you saw Merry, with a pipe in his hands. He was smoking. This was a normal thing for hobbits to do, so you calmly walked up to him and gave him a hug. The breeze was cold, but you felt warm while you hugged him.

"Why good morning, my dear." Merry told you, with a small smile on his face. He was so happy to see you, and was also glad that you were feeling well. "It's a wonderful day outside, isn't it?" You nodded.

The trees were orange, yellow, and red, meaning that autumn has come. Since darkness has been defeated for a while now, days were peaceful, and Middle-earth was safe. It made you feel relaxed all the time. All of the paths are safe, and you no longer have to worry about evil walking into The Shire.

And the air was clean, with many flowers on the ground looking perfect. You felt that it was a perfect morning to go on a short walk. Cold air, green grass, and peace that you hoped will last forever. So, you grabbed Merry's hand.

"I believe that today is a good day to go on a nice walk. The sky is free from clouds, and the sun shines brightly in the sky." you told him. "Would you like to walk with me?" You smiled and stared at Merry until he decided to answer your question.

"Of course." he said. "It is in fact a wonderful day. Are you ready to go now?" You nodded. So, you and Merry began walking outside and admired the nature that surrounded you. The Shire was a beautiful place. Not only because it was your home, but because it was genuinely a nice place.

As you walked, the two of you cracked jokes. Merry was intelligent, but he was also hilarious. In fact, his jokes and sense of humor were what mostly made you attracted to him. Of course, his cleverness also made you fall for him. And much much more.

You thought about what Merry saw in you that made him fall in love. What traits did you have that caused him to want to marry you? You were not from a wealthy hobbit family, so there had to be parts of your personality that Merry adored.

Maybe you need to ask him that question. It would make you happy to hear the love of your life tell you everything that he likes about you. Obviously you'd do the same for him once he finished speaking. You really wanted to have a romantic moment with him, so you decided to go with this plan.

"Merry?" you asked, your voice a little quiet. "What do you like about me? Do not take this as me doubting your love, I'm only curious." Every word you said was the truth. You had no doubt that Merry loves you. He absolutely does, and there's no denying that.

Your husband looked out into the open and thought for a moment. He wanted to pick the right words to say. "Well, I think you are beautiful, but that is not the only reason why I fell for you." he told you. "You have such an amazing personality, and you have quite the sense of humor. And the way you care for me made me fall in love, too." You beamed, remembering the old days when the two of you had just started your relationship.

"Do you want to know what I love about you?" you asked. Merry nodded, genuinely curious. "I love you because you are adorable. And not only that. You are bright, and I love a clever hobbit. Also, you are funny. You make me laugh every day with your witty jokes. To wrap it all up, you are brave. I admire you for all of the bravery that you showed to save Middle-earth."

The hobbit gave you a goofy smile. He was proud of his achievements back in the War of the Ring. But he wishes to be remembered by his accomplishments as a good husband, family member, hobbit, not only as a warrior.

After the two of you spoke, you and Merry continued walking. Neither of you had breakfast yet, as it was very early, but you two still kept on walking in the sunlight. This autumn day seemed to be one that you wanted to remember for the rest of your long life.

You looked up at the sky and realized that the other Brandybucks might be waiting for you. It seemed to be around the time where everyone ate breakfast, so they all might be waiting for you and your husband to come back to eat with them.

When you figured that it was time to return home, you elbowed Merry gently and told him, "Merry, I think it's time to eat breakfast now. The people back at home might be waiting for us, and I don't want to make them wait forever." Your husband looked at the sky and then turned around with you, walking you home.

As you two walked, Merry kept on talking about how much he loves you. It made you feel all bubbly inside. All of this reminded you of the old days. You didn't totally miss the old days though, for what you have now is what you want. You're currently the happiest that you have ever been.

"Merry, I love you." you muttered, staring at the flowers and trees. You loved nature, but you love your husband more. "And I hope that you will never doubt that. Please don't doubt the fact that I adore you."

"Why would I?" Merry asked. "There is no reason to, for I trust you with my life." The two of you, holding hands, then slowly walked forward back to your home. This was the best morning Walk that you've ever had with anyone.
