Earlier I read a fluffy Maeglin oneshot that inspired me to write this.

For most of his life, Maeglin had been hurt. He was hurt physically and mentally. Everything he went through  affected the way he looked at relationships and how he talked to others. The way his father treated him and the loss of his mother hurt him. It hurt him so much.

Maeglin was the quiet type, so he hardly had any friends. You were one of his few friends. It took him so long to open up a little bit to you, but you understood why. The way his life was like made him so tightly shut and distant. None of it was his fault.

There were many days where he sat alone in his study, writing the day away. It wasn't too often when he would leave, as he felt comfortable there. But there were also days where he would go outside and sit and chat with you. He was awkward towards you, as he would constantly stutter and blush every time he was around you.

You found him to be adorable, and you saw the pain that he's been through. Honestly, you sympathize with him. He hates it when people pity him. And he gets angry quick on some occasions. You were not going to judge him for that, as you knew that inside his cold exterior, there had to be warmth. He just needed to open up.

Secretly, you love Maeglin. You love him, though he's still scared to open up to you. Though he's not the elf that many ellith dream to love. He was imperfect, but you love him for that. It was going to take a lot of work to figure out a relationship with him, but you didn't care. You would help him every step of the way, because you want to help him.

Unfortunately, you knew that Maeglin most likely didn't love you back. There was a feeling inside you that told you that it wasn't possible. It's not like you can do anything about it, as he's already been through enough and you forcing him to love you would absolutely ruin his take on relationships.

Instead of continuing to feel sad about how Maeglin would never be able to love you, you decided to stand outside. Right now, it was dark. Stars were in the sky high above you, and you wore a dress that made you feel elegant and confident. You stared at the lights in the sky and sighed.

As you looked at the sky, you heard a voice stutter your name. It had startled you, so you gasped and turned around. The voice had come from Maeglin, which meant that your cheeks turned pink and you got nervous. Today seemed to be a day where he would wander outside.

"Good d-day..." Maeglin stuttered. You noticed him fidgeting with his hands. "It certainly is a nice n-night, isn't it? I see that you like the stars."

"I do like the stars." you responded, with a nervous tone. Both of you were super uneasy, and anyone could tell based on the looks on your faces. Your stomach felt as if somebody was stabbing it with little daggers from the inside. "Do you want to look at them with me? It would be a nice experience, I suppose. It's fine if you don't."

Maeglin simply nodded, and laid on the ground, the stars reflecting on his eyes. Reluctantly, you laid down next to him, and saw the little smile that came to his lips. You adored that smile, even if it was tiny. Just look at it. Who could look at it and say that they didn't love it?

The elf with dark hair then went to face you and took some deep breaths. You heard him mutter something about something one of the lords in Gondolin told him. What was he talking about? And why was he seemingly giving himself a pep talk?

"Erm, you look beautiful tonight." he awkwardly said. The compliment made you gulp and laugh nervously. It's not that you hated the compliment, it's just that it was so weird to get some kind words from the elf that you love. "That must have made you feel uncomfortable. For that I apologise."
